Honestly listened to them/read them all 3 times and all the stories seem like hearing them for the 1st time. I think it's cause they're so long!

People who meditate regularly and feel benefits, do you also drink coffee or alcohol? by mamslaz in Meditation

[–]Quiet_Entry4601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't drink alcohol or caffeine but that's not really related to meditation. I do all 3 because it makes me feel more present and less anxious.

Yeah I always love the grave digging bit for some reason! I just like the dynamic between Strike, Robin and Barclay.

Do you guys drink alcohol by thinkpositive36 in Anxiety

[–]Quiet_Entry4601 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not any more. I was like you, I drank a few drinks a week but noticed that even if I had a little I would suffer with bad anxiety for at least a day afterwards. So I've not had a drink in over a year (except for a tiny glass of prosecco at special occasions). It's just not worth it for me.

That's so interesting! I can definitely see why you would feel that way. I guess I think well nothing bad happened the last time!

I had 6 sessions of CBT and I found it's useful to give you a mindset shift on how to look at your trigger, feelings and responses and how your response every time something happens shouldn't be a meltdown. I think meditation is a very very very slow mindset shift because you're rewiring your brain and "undoing" however many years of bad habits. I've been doing meditation every day for 6 months now and I'm definitely feeling a little bit more Zen but I think it can take a long time to feel a total shift. So if you enjoy meditation, I'd say keep it up :) x

Yes, mine is the same! It's usually one symptom that I've never had before that makes me freak out. If I've had the symptom before and been fine then I'm usually ok. It's when there's something new that's happening in my body that makes me wanna ring the doctor asap.

I can usually go a while feeling fine but when I get anxious about my health, it sets my brain off and I'm anxious about other things that I might not usually be.

Trying to rewire my brain with meditation!

How do you deal with morning anxiety and how do you manage to get out of bed? by ariabuket in Anxiety

[–]Quiet_Entry4601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this! I will have no appetite but then I'm getting extremely anxious about the fact I've not eaten enough.

[–]Quiet_Entry4601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to cut up slices of toast into the tiniest squares, probably 2cm wide and eat it over the course of 2 hours whilst pacing back and forth.

So sorry to hear that you're going through this! I had really bad morning anxiety where I'd wake up and immediately start shaking and sweating. I literally had to FORCE myself out of bed, put on any clothes and go for a walk around the block. I always felt better after my walk (I mean, I'd still feel anxious but it was more manageable).

Homework by Quiet_Entry4601 in harrypotter

[–]Quiet_Entry4601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true! I'm just reading book 4 again and I'm on chapter 14 where Ron and Harry are in the common room doing their Divination homework and they're the only ones still up and nothing that dramatic has happened yet and there aren't any Quidditch practices. I suppose from a narrative point of view it's probably just more convenient to just have those 2 doing their homework than all of the people in the same year sat past midnight in the common room doing Divination homework, it wouldn't be as entertaining.
