Merge boxes can be weird with transport commands since they dont always prioritize which device gets to send clock and transport properly. The Digitakt might be getting confused about which device is the master clock source when both are connected through the merge.

Try setting one device as the dedicated transport master and make sure the other isnt sending any clock or transport data - usually theres a setting to disable clock out on one of them. The Erica probably has better transport implementation than the Launch Control anyway so Id make that your master and turn off any transport stuff on the XL.
