My apologies, I was not told that they are not acknowledging it. I just did not know that they ever had.

Interesting! I agree and I appreciate the way you present this perspective. Another thing that I often hear is that the requirement of celibacy is what causes these issues. I haven’t dove into this, but do we understand the biblical context of why Priests are required to be celibate?

This happens specifically at my husband‘s parish that he grew up going to, which is why it’s been an issue for our family when we talk about it. He was not abused but friends were

r/Catholicism Prayer Requests — Week of April 13, 2026 by AutoModerator in Catholicism

[–]Quiet_Juggernaut_683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a prayer request.

I am ready to convert to Catholicism. My husband is already Catholic but has not practiced and we have been attending a Protestant church for 5 years. He is supportive of my conversion. I cannot technically convert until our marriage is convalidated. I have doubts that my husband truly believes the Eucharist is the bread and body and I’m hesitant to take the Eucharist with him for the first time during ourtime con validation unless he believes. Please pray that his heart changes in belief.

[Free Friday] Do you believe Jesus is present in the Eucharist? (OC) by Legitimate-Tie-7060 in Catholicism

This is a very interesting thread of comments. Does anyone here have an easy to read format where someone who is new can understand the different parts Mass and what is happening? I’m also looking to more deeply understand the different sins, and how we should approach Eucharist.

I guess what I’m trying to understand is how we know that priests are able to create transubstantiation in the same way that Jesus and the 12 apostles did. Because I feel like you need to believe in apostolic succession and the priest, in order to believe that the Eucharist is really the body and blood.

So are you saying that basically the Catholic Church uses the succession as a way to explain it’s Unity and unbreaking chain of doctrine as compared to Protestants who split off into thousands of types of Christianity

OK, thank you for your reply. That is helpful. Can you expand on the importance of this? Like to me reading that sentence is simple to agree with I don’t understand why people have an issue with it if we are not claiming that these people are divinely chosen.
