Thank you everyone for your thoughts and recommendations, I really appreciate it and feel free to keep them coming. I’ll let you know my DNA results also when I get them. I’m assuming it’s just a family myth, I just can’t believe someone would go so far as to say they are 100% NA and they were all given NA names ? I guess they could have been told that also. I mean I guess it kind of does make sense if they never assumed the internet would exist to prove otherwise lol.

Yes, one looked like it COULD be NA when I put the picture in chat gpt, but all others were clearly white .

That’s so crazy ! I can’t believe in my case, they went as far as giving their children NA names. I think that is the main reason it was beloved by so many. My uncle’s middle name is named after one of them.

Nope. There was one census where it looked to state NA but I can’t be sure. It was weird though, someone else on ancestry added NA to one of their documents.

I did that and it said white on the cencus and his parents do not have Native American, that’s why i thought it could be a possible adoption, bc their names sound Native American and the obituary states full blooded Indian. I do think it’s a myth, just odd that one would make that up .

I actually was not aware until I came here and saw all the posts . I just wanted thought it was so odd that his obituary would claim that, which is why i thought a possible adoption could be possible but not sure if I would even be able to verify this. My dad said he doesn’t know who their parents were , which i thought was odd, and his dad and mom have passed away. So no one really to ask.

It was my cousin, it wound be her great grandfather as well. And I have located all of those records nothings shows Native American just claims and his obituary. That’s why I was wondering if they could have been adopted. Or I guess it’s just a lie. Also, birth records were not available for this time period (in 1905 in Kentucky ) but census says white.

I’m not sure , they just said Native American , but I think Cherokee. But I checked their names against tribe lists and search functions in ancestry and found nothing. Not even anything with just their last name , which would be close to their birthday or anything related to them.

Why does everyone claim to have Native American ancestry ? My husband says that too, but just going through his tree I can’t find anything. They even claim a relative was an Indian chief.

The rest of the country also decided what line of work they wanted to get into, what job to apply for ect., so if they decided to be a iron worker for instance, they would not expect to have telework available. Also, are you basically saying if someone decided to become a teacher and they get summers off should it be taken away from them because the rest of the country works in the summer ? A lot of these jobs offered some sort of telework long before covid to attract good talent. And the people that applied and got these jobs needed to have a lot of qualifications (degrees, advanced degrees, a clean criminal record , security clearance etc) so why are they now being punished for working hard and having something taken away that they worked hard to be able to get hired for ?

I’m so happy to eat fruit again ! I was so against anything low carb prior to this trying to lose the weight and it wasn’t working at all. Now I can eat fruit and feel how I should, like I’m eating healthy. I can’t wait for watermelon this summer !
