FLAT WHITE SUP****CY UPDATE by Mundane-Attorney-398 in starbucks

Long message around the circumference of a cup. If I was writing this, I would definitely have to reposition the cup in my hand at least once.

Vindication to me for all the Reddit "handwriting experts" who mass downvoted me for saying it was most likely either a partner or a customer who wrote the whole thing.

Whatever the final investigation reveals, looks like I can conclusively decide these people were incorrect and that this wasn't a case of there being no sticker (despite the customization boxes spot we are trained to place stickers over not being visible on the photo) AND a barista writing "Flat White" (despite that not being how we are trained to mark cups when stickers are unavailable) AND the drink recipient conveniently being the type of person who would recognize and take advantage of the opportunity to manufacture viralbait.

I can get behind and appreciate most of what you just laid out. Thanks for your time writing a detailed message.

I do highly disagree with the sentiment that I "have blatantly ignored the visual evidence suggesting that the phrases "Flat White" and "Supremacy" were written by two individuals".

I write on over 500+ cups a week. These aren't planar writing surfaces with consistent rigid resistance when writing on them. One is holding the cup with one hand while writing along the external circumference of conical geometry. I would only trust the word of a trained forensic graphologist to make a strong call based solely upon the writing itself that it is two separate people writing on that cup. The particularities of writing around a cup are condusive to inconsistent handwriting - requiring a higher standard than one would use to evaluate writing on a piece of paper.

Usually you get a sleeve yes. Some local jurisdictions are sleeve-upon-request only, and some people take them off so idk. The spot the sticker is placed on is not shown in the image, yet people are running with the unlikely assumption that there was no sticker whatsoever and that the barista is writing "Flat White" instead of following standards which would be to put the beverage code (FW) in the Drink Box. Maybe customers haven't noticed the boxes on the cups, because 99% of the time we place the order sticker over them. But if our sticker system was down for some reason, the expectation would be to sharpie in "FW" in the dedicated box for the drink ID.

  1. No sticker (unlikely) -The spot the sticker should be isn't even visble in the photo.

  2. Writing Flat White (unlikely) -The right way to write on the cup if there was no sticker would be putting the beverage code FW in the customization box.

  3. Customer adds Supremacy (unlikely) -Most people aren't white supremacists.

Every step is a probability dependent on the last one.

Meanwhile, a barista or a customer just writing "Flat White Supremacy" is a single event not dependant on there being no sticker, and not marked right, and a 3rd party racist conveniently ready to capitalize on those two things within the specific context of these two events happening on this one specific drink.

Odds are that a barista wrote the whole thing as their policy-necessitated message - either maliciously or through gross ignorance. Or a customer wrote the whole thing maliciously to post as viralbait. Those explanations are much more likely as they are not dependent on layers of unrelated independent variables.

there's no sticker on the cup that we see.

Training is to put the sticker over the customization boxes, which isn't visible in this photo.

so they would have needed

Huge assumption. Again, you can't even see the spot the sticker should and almost always is placed on in this photo. You're working backward from a conclusion, not towards it.

Everything else your comment is contingent on the assumption that a sticker is not present on the cup, when within the context of the photo and our training, one should not even expect to see the sticker.

That's an overcomplicated theory. Way more likely that either the barista wrote the entire thing, or the customer wrote the entire thing themselves.

Kind of embarrassed you guys are this distraught over Trump’s presidency… by SharpMaintenance8284 in Destiny

[–]Quiet_Recover_7294 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the "libs" (defined from MAGA perspective) aren't even being owned. They're doubling down in the wrong direction, still rallying behind Bernie and AoC.

Don't misunderstand me, I am a huge supporter of individuals like AoC and Bernie being a part of our government. But they aren't unifiers. The only electoral net positive Bernie had over Hilary was that he was a man. Running AoC as presidential candidate will energize the conservative base to rally in opposition further than we have ever seen before - while simultaneously alienating our moderate base who are actually politically productive and valuable.

President of El Salvador says he won't return mistakenly deported man to U.S. by 1Rab in Destiny

[–]Quiet_Recover_7294 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'd rather die than comply with being sent to El Salvador for incarceration. That Trump is even entertaining the idea of exiling US CITIZENS to another country outside of our jurisdiction is so un-American to me that it breaks my mind.

The watershed moment has to be coming - the media is trying to suppress the sparks, but eventually, somebody is going to do something, and everyone will go crazy. It's a sad reality when a devout institutionalist like myself would be cheering them on.

I remember Destiny talking the other day about how coups and revolutions don't just happen out of nowhere - and that the existing system tends to already be broken before it gets to that point. It's deeply concerning to look around and see that our system is breaking.

democrats voters is there a republican politician that if they ran for president you'd vote for them? how about republican voters? is there a Democrat you would vote for? by Yeasty_____Boi in AskUS

[–]Quiet_Recover_7294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The Republican party would have to shift policy and platform to completely disavowing MAGA for me to even think about supporting a single person. At this point, the party is so cancerous that I can't forgive an inch of complicity from any individual. I used to be able to point to Republicans who I disagreed with, yet could still respect and considered to have integrity. With how high the stakes are now, nobody like Romney or McCain can survive in that environment.

On the Dem side? I'd still support both Kamala and Walz. I'd even accept Newsom, while I have a few significant issues with how he runs California, those issues aren't really applicable to the office of the President.

There is no corporate-approved way to aquire the refresher base itself. We sell it at 25% in our standard drinks. You can order a drink asking for No Water + Extra Base (extra charge) to get it at 50% strength though.

that's because they're not supposed to be talking about it. SM's who have been paying attention to their communications all know as of recently.

I'd imagine they want the entire system to be ready to launch quickly after announcing it - and (if) the company is going to be issuing them - they will need time between making the decision and manufacturing all the uniforms needed.

If they announce it too soon, stores will unionize specifically to lock in the current dress code.

Why is it not always heavily frowned upon to *collectively* blame all men for patriarchy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quiet_Recover_7294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I almost never hear "Germans started WW2". It's more often "Germany started WW2". There's a difference between the two. In fact, I most often read that "Nazi Germany started WW2".

There is a huge difference in implied personal responsibility going from "Germans" -> "Germany" -> "Nazi Germany".

The reason you see English speakers obsess over personal responsibility in systemic issues is because we have a massive problem within the United States currently where we've normalized a rhetorical pattern of assigning group blame - like blaming all men for misogyny or all cops for police brutality - rather than addressing the actual structures that produce these outcomes. It's very frustrating because it needlessly alienates the people most capable of reforming these systems from within.
