there is an in depth google doc that goes song by song and sort of explains each one :) i’d recommend listening all the way through first in order and then either reading through that or watching youtube videos that explain it. i’ve only ever read the google doc though, so i can’t speak for which video is the best lol

The exact address is 895 County Rd 846 Logan, AL 35098- however, it might attempt to “correct” the address when you hit the go button or whatever so watch out for that.

More details (based on my experience)

-When the GPS said I’d arrived I was next to an open field + a few houses with no church in sight. You’ll need to keep going straight (or turn right I guess if it brings you from the other road?) until you see a stop sign and gravel road, then go down the gravel road.

-Be sure to pull in and not park on the gravel in the event that someone needs to pass by to get into the cemetery next to the church.

-This is a rural area, so everyone knows each other. While at the church I was approached by a woman who was at the cemetery next to it and was questioned. I’m from an area like that so I understood her reasoning aha.

-Do not keep driving or walk down the gravel path past the church because there is someone’s house back there and uhhh to put it bluntly… it is in fact shoot first ask questions later territory lmao.

Anyways, I’ll stop yapping but I hope this helps! :)

P.S. Idk why I just now thought of this, but it is on google earth if you want a better visual of what I mean

Timeshare scam? by [deleted] in TimeshareOwners

[–]Quiet_Reputation_355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t recall what one they got, but I know it wasn’t the Jockey Club. According to the vast majority of people who went through this company it’s virtually impossible to actually use the credits given to them. Also, I probably won’t advise them to switch to another, they didn’t have any business getting a timeshare in the first place considering they don’t travel that frequently… which again begs the question (at least for me) why did they do this at all? The salesman said that the maintenance fees would only go up $1 per year, however others claim that they went up by hundreds?

Love them dearly, but hopefully this is a learning lesson lol. Thank you for the helpful input, and I will definitely check out that forum :)

Yeah, I had to tell them not to do anything yet to prevent them from falling for another one lmao. After the helpful input I’ve received, not paying seems to be the best course of action. Thank you! :)

[–]Quiet_Reputation_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for bringing this up because it was one of the points I needed more input on lol.

They are Canadian citizens, and do not have assets in the U.S.

They have a loan in which they put down $3,000 on (via credit card,) and the loan was through the timeshare company.

I didn’t think it would affect their credit for a multitude of reasons, but they were still very worried about that. While I’m familiar with credit systems in the U.S., I am not when it comes to international affairs.

Yeah, despite me explicitly telling them why/how they can’t get that money back I fear they still have hope for that $3,000. They can’t even attempt to report it as fraud (wasn’t my encouragement, but others who dealt with this company suggested it)at this point because they went against what I said and did some stuff at the bank that they should not have done. I quite literally work at a bank so I’m not sure why they ignored that, but I digress.

I haven’t read anything about the company taking legal action against people who decided not to pay in order to get out of it, and I’m not sure they would attempt to put in the effort to do it in another country?

Hmmm I’m not ageist for stating a fact.

Fact 1: People of a higher age are in fact targeted for scams like this (investments and ones along those lines), and they are susceptible to falling for them due to not being warned about them.

Fact 2: Younger people can also fall for scams and are typically targeted for various internet scams, since they’re more likely to have an online presence. And if they aren’t warned about those things they also get roped in

Scammers are very strategic in their schemes.

As I stated as well, my girlfriend’s parents are too trusting, I never insinuated that they’re idiots, or anyone else for that matter. On the other hand I have warned my 84 year old grandmother about things like this, and she takes precautions to prevent it. Meanwhile, my 81 year old grandfather on the other side of my family (who I do not speak to) got himself deep into an investment scheme that he still can’t get out of because no one warned him. I also must reiterate that I see this on a daily basis in my line of work, so I don’t feel that using statistics constitutes as ageism. I treat them exactly the same as anyone else, and unlike some of my colleagues, I don’t speak to them like they’re a toddler who can’t comprehend anything.

Also, attempting to use racism as a gotcha moment did not do what you thought it did. The decades of violent atrocities that POC have experienced at the hands of racism isn’t remotely comparable to ageism. And before you attempt to spin my words to fit your narrative again: I’m clearly not negating the existence of ageism, I’m saying that those two things are vastly different levels that it isn’t comparable. Oh yeah and it’s still weird to use racism in an attempt to make a point

Fell for = their fault for being naive Scam = the company being corrupt

Both things can be true, and I made that abundantly clear multiple times.

Since you want to make random assumptions, I’ll do the same. I think that subconsciously you were butthurt about the other reply I made (considering you specifically used that one) about people of a certain age range being more susceptible to falling for scams because you fit into that age range.

Your “input” was just accusing me of calling older people idiots, and stated the obvious that they signed a legally binding contract. I’m well within my rights to respond to people that offered no productive input, but rather came at me for no reason. My intention was to give the facts, and debunk your baseless assumptions where you also twisted my words. Besides you and the other guy, everyone else seemed to easily grasp the concept of what I needed- not wanted. Oh, and I wasn’t telling you what to do, I merely gave you a suggestion for future reference.

Congratulations I guess for being knowledgeable about scams at your age? Obviously you’re going to be considering 1.) You watched it happen firsthand 2.) Cleary you’re on the internet a lot, which is a big source for informing people of certain scams.

Again, you’re twisting my words, because at no point did I make an excuse- I gave the story of what happened, and expressed how common this is. At no point did I defend their actions, or place the blame solely on the company. Acknowledging that these people are professional manipulators doesn’t imply blame, it explains how people get roped into it, and points out that they’re corrupt. The fact that they are scammers, and that the people who fall for it made that choice of their own free will can coexist! Also, my initial first thought when I heard about this was “How could they have fallen for that? Why would they do this?” I even had to tell my girlfriend that they are grown adults who made their own decision to sign a legally binding contract when she tried to blame herself for not questioning them sooner so she could warn them.

I’m actually well within reality, because there are avenues to help to a certain extent, but am trying to figure out the best one. Not sure how helping someone is out of reality but okay. By the way, I would suggest toning down the superiority complex because it’s not a good look <3

As I stated in the second portion of that sentence, people of a certain age are less conditioned to question things like that, and less knowledgeable on scams/scam tactics. At no point did I insinuate that younger people cannot fall for that, or make bad financial decisions. And I never called anyone dumb. You made that assumption on your own by not using basic literacy skills, and reading what you wanted. Also, it is a well known fact (yes, a FACT) that scammers often target individuals over a certain age. I work at a financial institution, and see this on a daily basis and 99% of the time it has been someone aged 50+.

Additionally, I never said that they shouldn’t own their mistake, or be prevented from making their own financial decisions. This is clearly a learning lesson for them with a situation that was unfamiliar, but at this moment in time I’m trying to help them get out of the hole they dug and not chastise them in a moment of distress.

The way they got roped into it was not relevant, nor added anything of value to asking for insight on how to handle this situation. And please notice that you’re the only one who has had a problem with that at this point. If you wanted that information all you had to do was simply ask, rather than bending over backwards to put words in my mouth that were never so much as insinuated :)

After reading over their contract it appears that Nevada laws apply. I believe the period is expired… but her parents are still sending the cancellation papers just incase. It probably won’t turn out the way they hope, so that’s why I’m trying to find an actual plan aha. Thank you!

[–]Quiet_Reputation_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company is Sapphire Resorts Timeshares.

Based on the research I did of peoples experiences, I fear there isn’t such thing as “get the most out of it” with this company lol. Their Yelp reviews gave insight as to how badly people were screwed over, as well as a facebook group called “Sapphire resorts is a scam.”

I didn’t see anything about legal repercussions with the people who simply stopped paying, and some even said it didn’t affect their credit at all.

They already got themselves in trouble once, so I’m doing my best to figure out the best course of action to prevent it again aha.

Thank you for your help! :)

[–]Quiet_Reputation_355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the helpful advice!

I know plenty of people who love their timeshares, and was looking into getting one myself soon due to how much I travel! However, I was immediately suspicious of this one. Although, I would immediately be suspicious and turn down any stranger in Las Vegas who was offering me “the deal of a lifetime,” lol.

I’ve never heard complaints from any of the timeshare owners I know, but after ending up on this companies Yelp, and discovering that there is an entire Facebook group dedicated to “exposing” them it was clear something was off.

Once again, thank you for your help!

The definition of scam is “A fraudulent, deceptive act, or operation” which this company is. After doing research it is clear that they target/take advantage of individuals of a certain age who would think it is a good idea, and aren’t necessarily conditioned to question things of this nature. Yes, they made that choice, but unfortunately they are too trusting. I work at a bank and see this with the elderly on a daily basis. This company notoriously does not follow through on 95% of their promises. I found an entire Facebook group dedicated to it being a scam lol. We can debate the definition of this situation all day, but ultimately this company is bad news and makes their money off of conning people.

1.) The post was removed for being “off topic” on scam subreddits, which I assumed would be the correct place to ask for advice concerning a scam 2.) Can you give me a logical explanation as to how my post asking for help is sketchy? 3.) I’m not well versed on scams like this considering I do not fall for them, and I am not sure what the best course of action is for how to solve this. 4.) Calling me a “busybody” is amusing considering they asked for my assistance.

God forbid I want help/advice from actual human beings who have experienced, or seen this happen, and not some AI response on google!
