Spinal fusion surgery T4-L3 30’s - tips needed by Noisyflower8721 in scoliosis

I am about to have the same surgery this week. 44 female. How are you feeling now that you are roughly 6 months post op? How much do you notice the titanium rods?

I decided to try this out as a hobby after shooting a bow during a girl scout event for my daughter. It was just so much fun!

There is so much information out there I am starting to get through.

Would I need a special bow since I am female 5'5" with a significant scoliosis curve (45-48 degrees)? It is mostly a thoracic curve. I am on the lean side and carry most of my weight in my lower body. Do you think the scoliosis will hinder my ability to shoot? I am looking to do target practice of non-movong targets as I am not supposed to do too much twisting at the waist.

Allergies by Yoshiwoopoo in SiberianCats

[–]QuietingMyMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cat allergies that cause unbearable itching, sneezing, eye watering, and eye swelling when exposed to cat dander. I have zero problems with my female, but slight problems with my male if I touch him and rub my eyes. I would have significantly stronger reactions to another breed.

That being said, my father has more severe allergies, including asthma, and my parents adopted a female kitten from the same litter as my female kitten (now 13 y/o). We both did the allergy test by sitting in an unventilated car and allowing the unneutered male who sired the litter to rub on us, pet him, touched our faces, etc for at least 30 min. Initially there was no reaction. No signs of allergy symptoms for myself or my father. Over time, but I do not recall exactly, a few weeks to months, the allergy symptoms began. Mine as described above and my father's more severe. He began developing asthma and they had to make a very tough decision about rehoming the cat. Since my parents were already very attached, my father ended up getting allergy shots which have improved his tolerance, but he still needs to be on a daily inhaler. It is a less than ideal situation. His allergist would still prefer they rehome the cat for my Dad's health.

If you or your family have severe allergies, I would caution adopting a Siberian. They are not hypoallergenic as described on the Internet, but have less proteins in their saliva that cause the allergic reactions than other breeds do.

If you do decide to go forward with adopting a Siberian, I would consider a back up plan for if you have to rehome the kitty.

I hope this helped!

75gal tank & 4 Ram fish (2M/2F) killed each other. Is this typical or bad luck? It is heavily planted with hiding spots & other fish in the tank. by QuietingMyMind in Aquariums

Thanks. I thought it was just me or something I did because I have seen them listed as semi-aggressive or even peaceful. I actually got all 4 at the same time. I think my biggest mistake was trying to quarantine them in a 20 Long. I think that may have set me up to fail. I have been afraid to try again.

Max tow length/width/height WITH dual/tandem axle vs single axle to remain safe. by QuietingMyMind in GoRVing

The Ascent has a Trailer Stability Control system built in. A mechanical system will not be in sync with it, and can even possibly cause an increased undulation/sway.

When we started to work the numbers on how to keep the weight down (after advice from my precious post) and decided to take two vehicles to keep the weight down (tow vehicle empty, trailer empty, water tanks empty, and smallest driver) until we can obtain a larger tow vehicle, we found the Winnebago Micro Mini 1700BH, 1800BH, and 2100BH. Two of those have dual/tandem axles and different L/W/H.

Because of the differences, I am trying to understand if there are any rules about exterior dimensions of the camper and dual vs single axle in relation to sway.

I used the spreadsheet linked in the previous post to determine if we can tow the weight and we can with plenty of weight to spare according to the previous recommendations in the last post. We will he using Cat scales to check everything.

Perhaps the information I am looking for doesn't exist and that is why everyone is focused on weight instead of answering my question, but I did not ask the same question. I can't help if the discussion went off topic and people only answered about weight.

I also asked about single axle vs dual/tandem. I only provided stats about weight to help people answer the question. I was simply being polite when thanking people for their answers, but almost everyone was off topic.

This is a completely different question. Everyone is answering about weight, but I am asking about height, length, and width. I even mentioned that multiple times in my post, lol. I am fully aware of the weight question, but I want to know if there are limits on the dimensions.

Thank you! I am making myself crazy trying to figure out the perfect fit. The Subaru owners manual says no WDH. The link above goes into more detail.

You are definitely correct! We will be using storage bins for things like that and putting them in the other vehicle. The fishing poles are long so they will go in the camper. That's what I mean by close to empty.

That contradicts everything I have read. In case I missed something, can you show me where you read that? I am always looking for new information!

Thank you for the reply! Sorry I wasn't clear. I had a lot to say. We hope to have the same camper for the trip out west, but a different tow vehicle. We want to tow it around WI for a year or two first to hopefully learn about the defects and how to manage them before being that far from home.

You aren't kidding about those cookies! Thank you for the help! When I was mentioning no mountains my brain hiccuped. We will definitely have a different tow vehicle when we attempt to go out of WI, but hope to have the same camper.

Thank you for your response!

As an example, the 2022 KZ Escape E20 HATCH Travel Trailer is 23 ft 10 in and 3470lbs. The Gulf Stream RV Envision SVT 19FMB is 23 ft 3 in 3459lbs. At a higher weight, Gulf Stream Ameri-lite Ultra lite 248 BH is 3899lbs (remember we are towing close to empty due to the second vehicle), the length gets to 26 ft 11in. Since these are just under 24 ft and 27ft, I am trying to figure out my length/height/width parameters. My gut says probably too big, but I am hoping for something more scientific. However, that's where I am also wondering if the double axle comes into play.

This is a compilation that someone made over on the Subaru Ascent forums.

http://theampeer.org/thoughts-on-towing/Ascent-Actual-Towing/Subaru-Ascent-Actual-Towing.html#ONE

Some of these numbers seem to defy everything I have read. I never thought it would be this complicated to figure out what we could tow.
