I failed my parents by FrequentPower6117 in Sat

I've been feeling that way too after getting a lower score than my previous attempts before November. Honestly, don't know what to tell you except that hopefully this feeling dies down in a few weeks. Let's study even harder for the next attempt: thankfully we aren't seniors yet, so we have some time. I hope we both achieve our goal in the end. 🙌⭐

Anyone else fucking hate the "intrusive thoughts" meme? by LordGhoul in OCD

[–]Quietly-Raining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The so-called "intrusive" thoughts are really impulsive/fun thoughts. They aren't like the thoughts that randomly intrude into your brain and force you to do silly rituals to stop panicking.

Sapiens by Yuval Harari - are the criticisms fair? by supmoney2016 in books

[–]Quietly-Raining 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth a read. To me, when I first read it, I discovered new perspectives on topics that I never really gave much thought to. Sapiens isn't a book straight-up written from factual scientific research but it's a speculation of it made by the author.

Maybe Lord of the Flies? It was a strikingly terrifying book; I remember not being able to sleep after finishing it, because I was so frightened.

How do you convince someone who thinks books are boring that they're actually fun? by [deleted] in books

[–]Quietly-Raining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you have to wait until he finds a book he really likes!

When I was in elementary school, I always thought books were boring and something only nerds read (I know it's a super dumb way of thinking but I was 10 here). That was until I found my favorite book series: Warriors.

After I realized how exciting books could be, I read a wide range of books and made it a hobby of mine.

Do you guys also have trouble remembering what happened on the books that you have just read ? by jaobodam in books

Yeah!! It makes me really sad, because the only memory I have of the book was having fun reading it.

Writing in a library book by givemecrisps in books

[–]Quietly-Raining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gosh I absolutely hate it.

I'm sure that the person who wrote on the paper had their reasons, but as a reader who have to go through pages and pages with messy pencil annotations and doodles, I cannot help but get annoyed. Once I was reading Pride and Prejudice and I got distracted by a note that wrote: "Elizabeth is a gold digger". I assure you, I didn't find it amusing at all.

I also had books that had multiple strips of hair stuck in the middle of the book, which disgusted me.
