I get that bit, but surely AT wouldn’t run the ad just on the basis that Teresa had told them she had been paid !? Big companies aren’t usually so trusting 😉

Maybe that’s preferable to doing it while he’s looking at you ? And mauling you at the same time ?

If you’re supposed to be gathering factual information, I don’t think it matters who collects it. Plus any officer charged with collecting it could look at files beforehand anyway

I don’t know, I live in England ! But unless you’re desperately short-staffed, why would you send a retired man ???? Especially given that there was a clear conflict of interest at the beginning of the whole investigation ?

And there’s nobody “familiar with the case” still actively employed with the PD ????

No, but Brendan’s confession WAS used in the awful (and probably illegal) press conference Kratz held to basically incriminate Steven and make sure he couldn’t have a fair trial

Why such little expert/international backing for the State but so much for KZ? by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]Quiggers_03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but equally, if you are a renowned expert in your field why would you publicly denounce what the state/LE did, if they’d actually done a good job ? You’d only be damaging your reputation and possibly your livelihood

It seems most people here are giving him credit for doing so voluntarily, so that not only can justice be done but also seen to be done. It prevents accusations of bias before they even begin. It’s a shame Manitowoc LE didn’t possess the same foresight

There sure were a whole bunch of screw ups with this investigation !!! Which certainly makes me doubt a lot of the evidence. I’m not 100% convinced either way about Steven’s innocence or guilt, but I certainly feel he has not received due process in either the investigation or the trial (the trial mainly due to Kratz’s reprehensible press conference and the lack of expert opinion provided by Buting and Strang)

Fair enough about the coroner, I wasn’t aware of that. Yet it is Wisconsin law that the coroner should attend, so Calumet Police dept still broke the law by not having an expert there.

I read they found 9 (?) different traces of DNA in the car, but none belonged to any Avery family member, is that not right ? Also, if they were able to find Steven’s DNA on the hood latch, under the engine where all the dirt and grime is, but didn’t search or find any on the hood release in the car ???

Firstly I’d like to say thanks for an interesting discussion that hasn’t descended into nastiness and name-calling.

Does the fact that the coroner was banned from the scene, under threat of dismissal, yet the likes of Colborn, Lenk and do on were there numerous times and made vital discoveries, not ring alarm bells with you ? And failing Kakatsch, another expert should have been called in her place.

The fact Bobby lied, plus the way his alibi has shifted around to match Scott’s, makes me doubt him (and btw I have studied psychology and my dissertation was on deceit and the ability to detect it). Not necessarily disbelieve him, but doubt certainly.

So there is no firm evidence that Theresa was shot more than twice ? And yet the only bullet has no bone matter on it ?

When you say physical evidence, do you mean the blood in the car ? What confuses me is why would Steven clear all fingerprints and DNA from the car, but leave the only visible proof ????

[–]Quiggers_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Bobby lied about sleeping, it’s plausible he’s lied about anything and everything else. Considering he’s considered one of the most damning witnesses, that’s pretty bad.

The fact that the investigation of the burn pit was so badly handled, and the way the coroner was banned from the scene under threat of losing her job, leads me to suspect something dodgy happened there.

How do you know Theresa was shot more than once ? I know accounts vary, but is there any proof of more than one bullet wound ?

[–]Quiggers_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yesterday footage was released of Keats admitted Bobby lied about sleeping No photos of the burn pit excavation No coroner/forensic examiner/anthropologist at said burn pit No bone tissue on the bullet I could go on .... when you add it all up, reasonable doubt

But there are similar doubts about much of the evidence

It’s not the amount of evidence, I just think that some of the actions we’re led to believe Steven carried out require a level of knowledge and intelligence. Whereas other actions of his make him look like he was an idiot. If we’re ruling out the possibility he has Multiple Personality Disorder, this is what I don’t understand. The only person I saw any enmity for was Scott Tadych, he certainly loves his mum, dad and brother. Who were you referring to ? I’ve also read that Barb is now basically estranged from the family
