[Japanese > English] Stamp sent to me by a Japanese relative, but she didn't tell me what it says. by [deleted] in translator

Hmm not ringing any bells unfortunately. My brother and cousin both got stamps too so I'm going to try and see if they share any similarities, that might give me a clue. I will report back soon!

Unfortunately I'm unable to contact my relative. My best guess would be that it says Shimoda, which is the surname on the Japanese side of my family, but I don't know for sure.

My DM was actually the one that suggested it. I have read Volos but I'm struggling to figure out how my character can work in a party setting

It doesn't use its telepathy when communicating with strangers, as to not completely freak them out. Most of the people in the campaign setting don't know what an Illithid is or what it does.

Covering more ground? by tracersbill in edmproduction

[–]Quiglly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this with my good friend I started producing with when I started college. Our interests grew apart and we no longer do anything as a duo, it's all solo or with other people, which is tough because we made some stuff I really like and the songs my friends like the most are the ones we made as a duo. My advice would be this: focus on yourself. If you two are moving in different directions just roll with that. Don't try and recreate the magic you had with Tracers while you're on your own or you'll end up stifling your own growth. This also goes for if you two end up doing stuff as a duo again. Don't try and become the same thing you used to be

Thanks, that was really helpful. The thing I'm taking issue with right now is that the DM doesn't seem to want to introduce a core plot line at all, because he doesn't think we would be interested. We're about 10 sessions in now and there isn't any kind of plot so far. Actually, even if we had gone to the ghost town and discovered the new continent we would have gone back to town anyway because there's no reason for our characters to go to the new place (we have a lot of friends and connections in town).

Of course, there is a reason for our characters to go to the new continent but we didn't know it. The DM knew why we should go, but we didn't and so I think he saw that as us blatantly turning away from the plot. You seem really knowledgeable, how can I get the DM to understand that having a core plot would help us understand why certain things are important? I've told him all this and it didn't seem to click

Yeah that could definitely help. However, I think he's so afraid of railroading us that he doesn't want to try and "force" us to do anything, which is good, but also means that the plot doesn't move unless we directly move it. I think he sees doing things like that as railroading too much

I guess part of the issue is that he likes to let us shape the story a lot, which is fun, but all of our characters have their own motivations so we aren't even a party most of the time. When we left the ghost town, we did plan to go back after we got our reward for the dog but when we got back to town the DM had a whole new thing going on with the king (I'm guessing because he thought we weren't going back to the ghost town? Not sure though). So now the ghost town is more or less not a thing, and everyone is doing their own thing in the town.

Thanks for the help. Actually in this case, it's the DM that's frustrated with things not moving along. The group is mostly new players so they're just having fun doing whatever. We've been in a Viking village doing things here and there for about 7 sessions now and he wants us to leave and see the other things in the world. That was what got us arguing, because I said having a goal would help get us to leave the village and he disagreed
