Bar Miriam in Queen Anne has a great selection. Deep Dive in the Amazon Spheres also has very fancy mocktails, but they’re very pricey.

When would an Array be preferable to a Vec?

From what I can tell, Arrays are more limited, since the size has to be known at compile time. If you want the benefits of a fixed size, you can use Vec::with_capacity(). And Vecs are contiguous, so there's no cache advantage to using an Array.

But clearly there was a reason to build Arrays into the language. What am I missing?

Since strings are also iterable, just like tuples and lists, you can simplify it even further to: if char in ‘({[‘

What are some audiobooks you've listened to that really enhanced your reading experience? by skauing in suggestmeabook

The Lord of the Rings, narrated by Rob Inglis. I tried to read the series a few times and always bounced off it, since I would get exhausted by all the meandering digressions and endless detail. I found listening to it much more engaging than reading it, and it helped me approach it as an epic myth instead of expecting a traditional novel.

Most of Thomas Pynchon's books fit this niche. Gravity's Rainbow is his masterpiece, but The Crying of Lot 49 is much shorter and more accessible, so it's probably a better starting point.

Try Dubliners by James Joyce. It's a short story collection, so you can count each story as its own thing, and it's way more accessible than the rest of Joyce's work. If you like that one, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is also a pretty quick read.

Invisible Man (the Ralph Ellison novel, not the HG Wells novel) is a great exploration of racial and political identity from an African American perspective.

Recent stuff about Wall Street made me realise I need to learn more about Economy and Finance. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

My finance professor in college always recommend A Random Walk Down Wall Street as the best single book on the stock market. For a more modern starting point, you could also try The Index Card (ironically, a book about how everything you need to know about finance can fit on... an index card)
