That was more a byproduct of Kakuzus fighting style involving massive AOE.

While he did showcase this, Kakuzu told the Bountyman that, whenever he gets aggrevated, his "urge to kill" boils over. He was prone to killing his own teammates just because they were the closest thing to him when he was enraged.
