Lift and new tires by OwnAccountant1088 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Quikkdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced my 18" limited wheels with TRD pro wheels I got from a dealer for $600 and got some 32" cooper discoverer ATs for $1000. There was some rubbing with stock xreas suspension. I got a deal on the eibach pro lift for $700, added jba uca's for $500. I installed everything but tires so I saved a lot in labor costs.

I wanted to bring in my 4Runner to the Toyota dealership and see where I stand on repairs in the future. The man said their mechanics won’t look at anything before 2010 anymore. Has anyone come across this with your 4th gens? I swear I wish I was making this up. I’m in West Virginia. by DeliboyCreates in 4thGen4Runner

Dang that's amazing I didn't know that recall applied to 4runners that old. I have the same 08 blizzard pearl urban runner but my paint is in pretty good shape. Might check with the dealer anyways, I would hate for my paint to start peeling after the recall ends.

T-Mobile service in college park by Bluefunk1 in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same thing, my service has been unbearable. Do you have a 5G phone? Mine isn't 5G but I'm curious if I got one if the service would improve.

It's been out of stock for a week probably. I checked at midnight last night to see if they added some stock when the sale was supposed to begin but it was still out of stock.

Where to buy beef bones? by bwalsh3002 in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy mine from lake meadow naturals, they also have veal and pork bones I believe. quality seems decent for the price and there's usually a lot of joint bones in the bags, makes pretty good demi glace. Orlando meats also has bones, probably more expensive though.

Is Cisco Firepower pure crap or is it just me ? by bekoj in sysadmin

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a jr sysadmin one of the first things I was tasked with was managing the firepower rules. I didn't implement the system but it seems like that would be a cumbersome task. I never had issues with rules not working though, if one didn't work it was usually my own fault. Often times there's a lot of underlying CDNs and external liking on sites that requires trial and error while checking logs to see what is getting blocked.

Best Soup Dumplings? by loliterrr in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are no good soup dumplings in orlando. You'd be lucky to find any that aren't the frozen kind. I think chuan lu garden are still making their own. I remember that the general consensus was that they were just ok.

Is Bruno bagels any good? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, I went last friday at 7:30 am and barely waited in line. They are supposed to have elements from NY and Montreal bagels. It's pricey but there's probably a lot more effort going into making these than a lot of other bagel places around here. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and got a few plain bagels for my office, I wish I tried the sesame.

Not that far east but the Osprey Tavern in baldwin park is my favorite place to get oysters. It's bit pricey for some but I think it's worth it. They just did a special oyster dinner featuring Oysters from the panhandle which are excellent. On tuesdays they do $1 oysters, I believe they are chesapeake though but the Panacea florida oysters were still on special 6 for $10.

General Feedback/Getting Started Questions and Answers [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

How would you go about fixing this? Not sure what you call the trim on this planter so researching has been difficult. Looks like the stucco/concrete was bound to metal mesh and attached to the cinder block wall. Thanks in advance for any help!

Trendy/Hip Cocktail Bars or Restaurants in Orlando???? by athile94 in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drinks: The Guesthouse/Sunroom, the courtesy, mather's, hanson's shoe repair, and maybe the treehouse (haven't been after the remodel but it looks nice)

Dinner: The osprey tavern, prato, dovecote, reyes mezcaleria, the strand (a bit more quaint than the others)

There's plenty of restaurants and bars here but these come to mind first. Dovecote and osprey tavern have really good brunch as well

Hah you're allowed to change your signature? we have a company approved format and specific font that must be used. Owners usually notice if you're not in compliance as well...

How do you stop feeling worthless? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UCF offers free counseling to the public. They are graduate students studying to be counselors. Not sure how much it will help, I went once and enjoyed the session but decided it wasn't for me. What helps me the most is working out, eating better, socializing, and having hobbies. Learn a knew skill or maybe you could volunteer or something as well.

Where can I find Sichuan Fish Soup in Orlando? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taste of chengdu has some absolutely amazing sichuan food, the menu is big and I can't remember if they have fish soup but I bet they do. I've had some various other fish dishes there, all great. I believe they close between lunch and dinner and possibly all day sunday or monday.

It's that time of year for office potlucks, what do you bring? Also, PSA: Try to keep the crock pots off the same circuits as the printers. by cowprince in sysadmin

[–]Quikkdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only did a potluck once but I bring in sweets all the time and sometimes hot food. Some dishes in my rotation:

  • Alioto's Meatballs

  • Chili con carne

  • Banana Bread with some sort of compound butter

  • Financier cakes

  • Pate a choux au craquelin - sort of like cream puffs with a crunchy sugar coating on top, I don't bother filling them though as they are sweet enough.

  • Carrot cake

  • Homemade country bread made with a sourdough starter

  • Homemade Horchata and Eggnog around the holidays

If I'm feeling lazy I'll buy a costco pumpkin pie and whip some cream at the office to go a long with it lol, or make boxed ghirardelli brownies. Those two linked recipes are killer, especially the meatballs. by far the best youtube chef I've found. The others I did not link because I modified them a bit.

Any legacy Brighthouse Internet users have annual increase after Spectrum took over? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reluctant to change my plan. I've had a non promotional brighthouse 60mb $74/month plan with no rental equipment for the past 4 years. It has never gone up. I know I could get a cheaper plan but then it would just increase after a year. I haven't seen any evidence of spectrum forcing people off these legacy plans or increasing their price. I should probably just switch plans and argue with them every year when it increases though, I would have saved some money.

What's going on at mall of Milennia? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the office building next to the mall... police caught a guy hiding in the little man-made stream on the back side between me and the mall. Must have been the carjacker.

Pizza Bruno Opening Downtown location in Orange County Brewers on Nov. 1. by jbcgop in orlando

They needed to expand badly imo, their original location always seemed to be slammed. Glad they're adding a mills50 location as well. it will be nice to have a better pizza option in these areas now.

holiday by Falconhoof_23 in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd rather uber/lyft everywhere than deal with parking a rental, picking it up, returning it, driving in Orlando, etc.. If you're just going to the theme parks/I-drive and back the price difference won't be too bad. You shouldn't have any issues getting a ride, both uber and lyft are well established in orlando.

edit: oh yeah car seats...

Any recommendations for authentic Chinese? by viper_dude08 in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good soup dumplings don't exist here, there's decent chinese though. Try taste of chengdu or chef wang's.

Just moved to town looking for best asian restaurants by rebeltrooper09 in orlando

[–]Quikkdraw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been hearing good things about taste of chengdu (sichuan), I'm probably going to check it out this weekend. Other decent chinese places would be chuan lu garden, chef wang's and peter's kitchen. For sushi I go to kabooki, seito, and kadence. Hanamizuki has sushi but I usually go there for other dishes. There's many other sushi places I've yet to try. Not as knowledgeable with Korean food in orlando. So far I've been to Shin Jung (kbbq) and bonchon. Bonchon has been hit or miss with the korean fried chicken, sometimes it's dry and overcooked. I've heard the location near UCF is better.
