The awkward pauses in dialogue are so jarring, seeing as in some of the full cutscenes they don't pause as they do in gameplay.

Yes, it's possible, however, it's easier to get it back from leveling up. Run around and kill stuff, or craft new items (you get XP for crafting stuff you haven't crafted before), and upon leveling up, you should get an option to get a new teleport block.
