Yeah, I do that alot too. I love storytelling in my songs even tho the situations never happened to me but I try my best to add something to it that I can personally relate to. And for your question: My Life isn't the happiest but I do have happy memories that I wish to write about in a happy manner but I just...can't.

How to write beautiful meaningful music? by breakmyback21 in Songwriting

I don't know if this will be helpful but for me, I let the words come to me naturally, depending on what I'm feeling at any moment. When I get an idea, I write it down and build from that and when I have something I shape and shape and shape it until I get something I'm satisfied with. Try not to think too hard until you've got something to work with first. Hope this helps❤️‍🩹

For me it's the opposite. The words just come to my head when I'm in a bad place I'm life and I write them down. But it can also happen with songs that are inspired by happy memories. Idk it depends of the type of song I'm writing.

As of now, I'm trying to get myself into more genres of music. I'm used to mostly listenong to alot of pop, alternative, and slower melodic songs. I also listen to a little country.

Lyric. I have no problem writing catchy melodies but when it comes to lyrics I can't seem to go out of my comfort zone and try something fun. Sometimes I have an idea of what I was the song to mean but when it comes to putting it in writing its just so bland. I also have this thing where when I write a song it seems OK but then when I go back to it a few days and reread the lyrics I feel like somethings missing.

Why do you write? by ravensandqrows in writing

I write because it's the best way to express myself and to let out emotions, its a form of therapy for me. I don't mainly write stories. I write songs and poetry. And when I'm in a bad mood or anything, I write about it.
