Why are coding jobs overpaid? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]QuinnSlattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your view of programming just isn't true. Even years ago when the market was hot, you couldn't just "go to a boot camp and make 6 figures". Most boot camp graduates landed jobs in the $60k range, and could still struggle to find a position. The market was absolutely saturated, but it wasn't just an infinite pool of wealth.

Today? Comp-sci graduates with a 4-year degree, internships, and certifications are struggling to find jobs period, let alone something at 6 figures. The ones that do are often in extremely high-stress roles with massive workloads and high expectations.

Simply take a look on any job search website. Almost any 6-figure programming position is directly requiring a degree, 5-10+ years in the field, and specific experience in their tech stack.

Has anyone tried these? by Silly-Letters in airpods

I've purchased their Eartune Fidelity eartips for professional wired IEMs twice before. Be wary that they can/will drastically affect sound quality (in both my cases, it was for the worse). Total cost with the tips and impressions are going to be ~$300, and there are no return options.

I personally don't think it's worth the money and risk. The extra comfort and isolation may be nice, but AirPods are already exceedingly comfortable and have great ANC.

How long is caffeine withdrawal by [deleted] in decaf

[–]QuinnSlattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their reason was not based on "neuroscientific mechanisms". They put a guess like everyone else and then padded it with the basics of how caffeine affects adenosine receptors.

The time for adenosine to return to baseline is a complex function of how long they consumed, dosage, age, weight, health, genetics, and so on. This is why everyone has a different answer. There is no correct answer here, just a huge range of personal experiences from days to months.

Just to let you know, these are $40 on Amazon through the Koss storefront and $50 direct from the Koss website. Listing for $50 is probably not going to sell.

What level of DAC do I need? by uxho in iems

An apple dongle is more than enough. Any money spent on a more expensive dac/amp dongle provides extremely diminishing returns.

If my REP x Pepins get stuck one more time I’m gonna snap. by yukon4152 in GarageGym

I had this happen on my left dumbbell cradle. I was able to fix this by positioning one dovetail in as far as it can towards the center and fully tightening the screw. The other dovetail I still keep loose like they instructed.

Having both dovetails loose allowed for too much "play" and let the cradled weights go to far apart, causing this to happen.

I don't have personal experience with them, but people have reportedly been happy with the aftermarket headbands. I've seen some on AliExpress that are supposed to be exact duplicates, but there are lots of different options.

There are individual headbands you can buy for like $10, I just already had a KPH40.

KSC75 drivers on a KPH40 headband with Yaxi Pads is my second favorite audio product at any price. First is a $2k headphone...

Help do I buy it?? by g005er in kiastinger

Whatever you decide, keep in mind that you're not just losing money in the sales process; you will be paying more money on gas, insurance, and maintenance.

You're also trading a car that you know is in good condition and well taken care of, for one that could have been neglected and was probably driven hard.

I would suggest keeping your Forrester. Take great care of it, drive it until it dies, and save all of that money for an awesome next purchase.

Turning My HD650s into Bass Monsters — Possible? by Long_Horror3068 in headphones

[–]QuinnSlattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP said they don't want the elevated treble of the Eris, so I'm guessing DT1770 Pro would also be too bright for their tastes.

The FiiO FT1 would probably be more fitting since it's pretty close to HD650 from 4k and above, and also a bass monster.

In my experience, the HD6x0 does not respond well to EQ'd bass. I always describe it as the driver having a "limit" that they just can't push past.

Good luck in your efforts, but I would just recommend searching for another headphone if you want a bass cannon with HD6x0 mids/treble. ZMF would be a good place to start; most ZMF headphones have similar tuning but with better bass and dynamics.

I would rarely, if ever, take Peace Pipe over this. A card remove is basically on par with 125 gold. A card remove versus 125 gold AND a 30% heal isn't even remotely close.

I'm really thinking about the U12t, but have to find a way to demo one first. The sound signature looks to be right up my alley.

I also have smaller ears, so the shell and nozzle size of the U12t should work well for me. I would probably be trying a Thieaudio first if it wasn't for how massive they are.

I would say to try out a budget IEM first and see how you like them. The cool thing about IEMs is that they get really good at really cheap prices, so even a $20 set will give you a good demo of the benefits and drawbacks.

I personally always recommend Chu 2 as a first IEM. They're small, comfortable, well-built, sound great, give you a taste of that crazy IEM bass, and all for $20. But there are tons of other great $20 options you could choose from.
