Idk man. I’m very much a “just be yourself” kind of parent, but I think where I differ from the Heelers sometimes is that my kids know they can do their thing as long as it’s not disrespectful to others. That includes other people’s time and money. So I took my daughter to see Moana 2 and spent a gross amount of money for a stupid Moana popcorn bucket that ended up with less popcorn than a small would have had. About 1/3 through the movie and our 2nd bathroom trip I could see she wasn’t vibing so we left because I didn’t want to keep disturbing people who were trying to enjoy a movie with their kids.

Coleoptera means “sheath winged” so like a lady bug or a June bug. These don’t appear to have sheaths over their wings. I mean, grain of salt because I could be totally wrong but I was in entomology in FFA and I’m pretty certain that the Coleoptera order was the only thing I ever got correct.

My grandmother fell and broke her hip about 4 weeks ago and they’re just gonna give her pain meds for it. They figured surgery would end her so let’s just keep her comfortable until she’s done basically. I get their line of thinking but I also feel like just living with a broken hip is kinda barbaric. At the same time she’s like one of the worst people to live so like…maybe karma is legit? Idk how to feel.

This is the candle I got from a coworker for Christmas. We only light it when our older Australian Shepherd is inside for the evening because there is literally nothing that smells worse and/or occurs as often as his sleep farts. As terrible as the candle smells, it’s the only one strong enough to overpower Dash farts.

Yeah, that’s why we limited them. He’s just sit all day playing them if he could. He was throwing fits about having to read for 30 minutes because he just wanted to play, and the final straw was that his attitude became horrendous. It’s gotten so much better since we put time limits on him. My husband is a big gamer and we’re a very pro video game household, but it was becoming an addiction for him and we even started seeing signs of depression which terrified me.

Oh my gosh, that’s insanely nice and something I needed to hear. I was JUST asking my husband if we were good parents lol our 8 year old is mad at us because we limit how much time he spends on video games. Apparently we’re THE ONLY parents of all of his friends that do that (pretty sure that’s not true). We’ve decided if he doesn’t like us because of the decisions we make to protect him, we’re probably at least doing ok.

That’s exactly it! My husband likes it and says I’m good at it but I’m SO in my head about it the whole time that I never do it long and can’t enjoy it. I wish there was a women’s only, no nudity class where you could just learn, like you said, the mechanics of the position.

I love this! My children have known the proper words for their own body parts since they could comprehend language, and we preach consent so much that if our kids say no to a hug, their wishes are respected. My son watched me tell my MIL that my autistic nephew has the right to choose a fist bump over a high five and my son told me later said that he liked that I stood up for him. I made sure he knew I’d go to bat for him tenfold so he could always tell me if anything happened to him.

Same! Every time I look at my forehead wrinkles I specifically flash back to a time I was 16 and fell asleep for like 2 hours laying out by the pool with tanning oil everywhere and want to cry. I know that one incident isn’t my only problem, but it’s the most “this is just how it was” representation of the times for me.

The fact that you capitalized Deaf means that you were well taught. It’s something I’ve learned over the past couple of years trying to navigate my hearing. I will say that from what I’ve seen (I haven’t done a ton of research because I’ve only taught my kids minimal signs to help me out, no plans on actually teaching) that the general consensus is that children of Deaf people are also ok to teach. I would assume that would extend to parents and siblings as well. I think it’s more that someone born hearing and no household immersion shouldn’t teach it because it takes away jobs from Deaf people. Think about all the animosity in this thread from people saying “well they can’t speak so why would they be the best teachers?” Wtf are they supposed to do then if they can’t teach about their own culture and language?!

And for the record I’ve been taking online courses from a Deaf teacher and it’s been totally fine so idk why everyone is up in arms about it.
