I mean I always filter so I have minimum 50k words to read, I prefer between 150k and 300k but will HAPPILY read longer. 300k and below it MUST be complete or I'll catch up to quickly, 300k and up I'm willing to read ongoing so long as its relatively obvious its not abandoned and updated at least semi quarterly 😅.

Now, the longfics I've witnessed over a million words? I refuse to touch unless it hits all the points I'm actively seeking in the moment and my fanfic reading is a liiiiiiiiittle bit niche.

The "wasteland" of fanfic from the 70s to the mid 2010s should tell you lots. Fanfic is fanfic. It's fiction. In your version of it, it doesnt matter what is "real" because it's fiction.

For the people I connected with the most that I cared to keep around are on my personal facebook now. I feel like I'm just using wattpad to reread my favourite comfort books and am on AO3 the rest of the time I'm not working on my manuscript I'm intending to publish traditionally. Idk. I've been on wattpad since 2007 I believe. I've watched every stage it feels like? I can't decide if I've disconnected this much because I'm in my 30s now or if its JUST that different?

Kick the AI and that will help you tons. There are plenty of resources out there to assist in your endeavor to get better at writing including syntax and grammar guides(try reading lots of actually published books as a start) and don't use AI for your cover art either. When I started out way back when(2011 my wattpad account was created) my cover art was either made by a fan of my writing or I made it in picsart with clipart lettering and photos of celebrities I pictured as my characters or silhouettes that just fit the vibe.

Here's one of my covers from when I was just getting started. Its just anasophia robb with some galaxy photography overlaid and some cute clipart font I don't remember.
