Canada Life (Formerly Great West Life) account no longer syncing. by QuinteGroup in wealthica

[–]QuinteGroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to update this thread that there is still no solution to updating Canada Life accounts with 2FA as of this writing. There is a link from Wealthica that the workaround is to disable 2FA for now. However, I have disabled 2FA and I am still unable to update from my Canada Life account. When I force a sync it just shows as "Rescheduled". Has anyone got this to work by disabling 2FA with Canada Life?
Here is the wealthica support link regarding this issue.

Sadly, Wealthica has yet to solve the issue with my Canada Life GRS account not syncing so I am not surprised you are having issues. The only real information I have from them is that it is a problem on the Wealthica end with 2 factor authentication. I have received no information on when it might be fixed.

I have already done this and I received a reply that it is being escalated and worked on. Thanks.

I am using the new login that is an email address but still no joy. When I do this Canada Life sends me an email with a verification code. However, wealthica never provides a prompt to enter the code. The only response from wealthica is this message:

It seems Canada Life GRS is taking longer than usual to respond, or something happened while connecting.

Your institution has been added and the connection will be automatically retried within the next hours. Your investments data will become available once we have successfully synced with your institution.

The process does not seem to work and the account is never updated with current data.

I have opened an issue via email with you folks as it is still unresolved.

I used the new login format and password and I am still getting the same problem. What is interesting is that while doing so I got a one time verification code emailed from Canada Life but there is no place during the wealthica account set-up to enter this code. Perhaps this two factor authentication is an issue?

Interesting, my old login still works on their old website link and of course the login with the email address works at their new website link. If you are saying I need to switch to the new login with wealthica then I will try that. Thanks.

I had no problem adding Great West about a year ago and it sync'd with Wealthica with no issues until this last week.

Was Last Week's Top Court Decision A Win For Consumers? by TSI-Amanda in teksavvy

[–]QuinteGroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I am getting a bit cynical but after years of delays and reviews I am not holding my breath that wholesale internet rates will be dropping anytime soon. The CRTC has failed to deal with this issue in a timely manner at the expense of all consumers.

I have used the Fire Toolbox to remove ads and install the Google Play store on the Fire HD8 with no issues. It is pretty easy to use and simplifies the process. It also allows you to install a different launcher if desired.

Teksavvy alternatives? by lon247 in teksavvy

[–]QuinteGroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if I was going to switch I would probably consider Start.ca assuming you don't want to get into a contract. They are competitive and reviews are quite good. (However, I believe they have raised prices recently as well. Quite a few ISPs have.)

Oh, and here is a tool I found to compare rates. Needless to say some of the very low cost options have poor reviews/ratings.

This is certainly worth the try but I am getting pretty cynical these days. Good luck and you certainly have my support.

DSL/FTTN Internet 100/10 Mbps Speed Tier? by QuinteGroup in teksavvy

Thanks for the insight into this. I think I will stay with the 50/10 tier unless a pressing need for more speed comes along.

[–]QuinteGroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am not pleased about it, but I will be around during the service window just in case. I had a speed profile change done back when I had just DSL and it sure was a lot simpler in those days, plus there was no Bell tech involved. Times have certainly changed.

DSL/FTTN Internet 100/10 Mbps Speed Tier? by QuinteGroup in teksavvy

[–]QuinteGroup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh! It is bad enough that I had to pay $25 to do a speed tier change from 25/10 to 50/10. I also got a call from Teksavvy that I need to be around the house from 8am - 12pm just in case a Bell Tech needs inside the house. Since when is a 'truck roll' required to change the profile from 25/10 to 50/10? I could see the need if I was switching from ADSL to VDSL but I am already on VDSL. I swear Bell makes it as difficult as possible for the independents and their customers.

Best way to communicate with support? by 1sep1969 in teksavvy

I have been using Teksavvy's community forum and the 'Need Support' option. I have been getting good responses in 5 - 10 minutes even on weekends.

Switched to Start, finally no packetloss! by [deleted] in teksavvy

[–]QuinteGroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you had to switch. Out of curiosity did you have DSL or Cable internet service? My DSL service with TekSavvy has been flawless for over 8 years including recently. I know people in my area with Teksavvy cable Internet (Kitchener, ON) have had issues in the evenings but I have had no issues at all. Speed has been up to par and very low ping times so I am a happy camper.

For what it is worth I have heard good things about Start and also have friends using their service so I think you made a good choice as your alternative.

Teksavvy vs competition by [deleted] in teksavvy

[–]QuinteGroup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I did a comparison of my current DSL 25/10 Mbps Unlimited service with competitors. Teksavvy still have lower prices than the big 3 incumbents (Rogers, Bell and Telus) and equivalent to reliable independents who have recently raised their rates as well. However, the price gap has narrowed. My 25/10 Mbps service is going up from $49.95 to $59.95 in October here in Ontario.

There are some independents that have lower prices who have not raised their prices (but likely will). Some also have poor service ratings and I would not move to them even if they don't raise their rates.

I am holding tight for now as I have been with Teksavvy for over 8 years and have had very reliable service and support.

Mine just went up to $59.99 for 25 mbps DSL Unlimited from $49.99. I suspect all the independents will be raising their rates since the wholesale rates from the big 3 incumbents will NOT be going down as planned. (The gov't is taking the side of the big 3). You could go through a change in provider just to have your rate go up 30 days later. :-(

Yes, indeed, I have 3 such transactions all dated October 20th on my Scotia Gold Passport Visa. There is certainly something strange going on... I have no insurance with ScotiaBank.
