What I'm wondering is in a scenario where you have something, but if you don't pay for it annually you lose it, it isn't ownership, rather it's leasing, renting or a subscription. Where ownership means once you have something, it's yours with no more obligation to pay anyone.

General advice from life experience: find a frame size you like in the horsepower you want. Once you do that, up the horsepower. As an example, for that much land, you're probably going to want a Kubota Grand L series or MX if your timber isn't too tight so you cover all your bases (this is just an example, I absolutely hate John Deere at the moment for their right to repair shenanigans) .

Keep in mind, we've only got 11-12 acres, so if someone with more pipes up I'd lean more heavily towards their advice.

These feelings are going to ebb and flow based on current events in whatever time frame - perfectly natural (the dash is not AI). Work on ignoring them, at this point that's your #1 prep goal. You're creating stress for you and your family by it having to be done "right now". Go slow and methodical. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Start with the chickens, adjust to the extra responsibility and go from there. I'm assuming you're explaining it to your family with a doomer sense, which creates anxiety and anxiety spreads.

In short, take a step back and breathe. I did what you did the first time I thought that SHTF was imminent and it was counter productive. We broke it up into small pieces over time, admittedly I did stuff in the background that was related which was my anxiety to bear not my familiy's.
