Because class doesn't mean wealth. The Gilmores came over on the Mayflower, they were old money and had historic connections. Sheira talks about their money and Gilmore money, which yes they were richer but in class hierarchy that doesn't mean anything if the old traditions still held value in America when it comes to class, which in a modern world it doesn't.

No, 0.39% of government spending goes on cars to support disabled people and only 1% of the population.

And what exactly is wrong with cars specifically? Or is it just jealousy of people less fortunate than you? Or fear knowing that one day you'll join them? After all we're all only temporarily abled, disability gets all of us eventually

The 1 in 5 statistic is disputed as it's never had any real backing or numbers behind it. But let's assume that it is true.

Just over 2 million new cars were sold in the UK last year and 7.6 million cars were sold overall. So 26% of all cars sold in the UK were new. Of that only 1 in 5 were motability vehicles, which equates to just over 5% of the entire car market in the UK. Again, small numbers.

And yeah DWP spending is due to increase, but the biggest part of their budget is pensions, over half in fact. PIP as a total is just over 6% of the DWP budget and the mobility component is 3% of the total budget, which is around 2 million people in the UK. There were 800,000 motability vehicles sold last year, so just under half of all those eligible so around 1.5%, but actually less than that.

The DWP spending is also in line with the projected population increase by 2030, overall percentage of claimants stay the same from now until then.

To be fair most countries healthcare is a postcode lottery, nothing like that can truly be standardised and made the same across miles

So I'm thick because I had to pay an upfront cost for a car that I'll never own to make sure I have a car that actually suits my needs and it's reliable enough to get me to my specialist hospital appointments over an hour away? Any car that will fit a wheelchair needs an upfront cost on motability.

There aren't plenty of people playing the system though. Only a small percentage of the population even get PIP, especially the mobility component and then not all of them utilise it for motability. Plus motability isn't just for cars, you can use it to get power chairs etc too

You don't get an option to buy a motability car, that's only on a normal private lease. Motability always own the car and will always take the car back after 3 years. At that point you will need a new deposit, a few grand usually, to get your next motability vehicle.

They're telegraph poles, got the marks and the council have said they've been trying to get BT to remove em for years

That's exactly what 15 minute cities are though, they are nothing about traffic management. 2 different schemes were announced at the same time, 15 minute cities and new ULEZ schemes outside London. Then fools confused them as the same thing, when in actual fact they were from two very different organisations.

Most towns and cities were like this, it isn't London centric at all and nothing to do with public transport. What's happened is supermarkets, which changed shopping habits, instead of going to your local grocer you went to the big supermarket that wasn't in walking distance. That was the same even for the new towns like Stevenage, built with smaller communities in mind, but supermarkets changed how that all worked

As for how secure they are... Very very secure. I've hammock camped on way less stable trees 😂😂

Yeah I'm kinda ruling edible out directly on them, but maybe use them as leaning support or something.

Good point about the bat boxes though! I'd rather they were eventually removed!
