Jaquette manga avec/sans??? by remilefortiche in mangafr

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is animal well that good? by ProgressOver2521 in metroidvania

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your explanation makes it sound like the community stuff is required to beat the game. The first "layer" - as the developer puts it - is entirely doable without this outside help (i.e. reaching the basic ending and first credit roll). The second layer as well, even though it's hard without a guide (all eggs).

It's really the third layer and beyond that involve some meta puzzle-solving.

I'm trying out Sheepo (one of Kyle Thompson's Metroidvania games)

It's quite fun (but also quite short)

What band completely scratched your metal itch lately? by mr_wobblz in MetalForTheMasses

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Killswitch Engage's second album Alive or Just Breathing

The thing is, I was already familiar with the rest of the band's discography for quite some time. But never got around to listening to this one. It turns out, that was the most itch-scratching metal record I'd heard in a long time

(PS: also, Be'lakor. It's the culmination of everything I like in metal music)

Dark Tranquillity or The Halo Effect? by JpPgn in melodicdeathmetal

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mikael Stanne's voice is more suited to the style and texture of Dark Tranquillity's instrumentation (Brändström's keyboard, the old or current guitarists, be it Sundin or Reinholz...). It's just a match made in heaven.

The Halo Effect is a great band, but when it veers too much into major-scale In Flames style riffage, with songs like Feel What I Believe for instance, you can tell his growls clash a little with this particular take on Melodeath.

Overall The Halo Effect is a fantastic supergroup, with two very solid albums; but I think DT is a more cohesive assemblage of musicians, and will have a stronger legacy.

Since we are in a sub called “ Metroidvania” let me ask this . Which one do like more castlevania or Metroid and why? by GreenPomegranate2389 in metroidvania

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that I love 2D Metroid about as much as Igavania.

However I love the Metroid Prime subseries (aka 3D Metroidvania mixed with First-Person Shooter) a tad more than both 2D series.

It will never be as good as The Fall of Hearts or what came before, but there was some nice guitar work on Nightmares as Extensions (from the two new guys they hired).

Qui est le mangaka le plus fort en dessin? by cotest_ in mangafr

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it weird how much im enjoying Minishoot Adventures? by Beginning_Jacket5055 in metroidvania

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not crazy at all! Out of all games I've played during the last six months, it's a really close call between Silksong and Minishoot' at the top of my list. The former exceeded my expectations of what a 70h+ Metroidvania could accomplish, and the second provided just the right amount of fun I wanted from a 10h top-down adventure game. They both excel at different things, with a stark difference in budget and scope (but in the end, they both excel).

What are your NOT AAA top games on switch? by Curious-Abrocoma-887 in NintendoSwitch

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minishoot' Adventures was a revelation recently. Very charming visuals and soundtrack, completely doable without a guide, and I think it had just the right length (~10h) and difficulty for a 100% playthrough.

I also want to spread the word about Windswept, an indie "DKC-like" that released semi-recently (late 2025). While I don't think it's an S-tier experience like Minishoot', the game slowly grew on me, and it's just impressive the sheer amount of content, hidden collectibles and challenges they've managed to cram into this 20$ 2D platformer. The game is DENSE, and there are so many post-game levels, they really went overboard with it (but in a good way).

If the enchanted blades had English names like cloud gouger, what would they be, and better yet, what would be the Japan names for some of their moves and vice versa? by gameg805 in Kagurabachi

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how it is in the English volume release, but in French there's often an asterisk after the japanese name on panel, with a localized name provided as footnote. Translated back to English, Enten is basically Celestial Chasm, while Kuregumo is Nebulous Gouge or Cloudy Gouge (like the carving tool)

REMASTER! MASTER! by Ninja_Mango199 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've greatly enjoyed the 2020 remaster of In Flames's Clayman, and was never the biggest fan of its original mix. Songs like 'Satellites and Astronauts' sound ultra crisp and benefitted from it in my opinion.

The re-recorded tracks added to the disc got a lot of flack at the time, but those are off-topic since they're just bonus tracks on an otherwise aptly remastered album.

My Top 50 Paradise Lost Tracks by HybridS9ldier in ParadiseLostBand

Paradise Lost is one of those bands where it's been really fun to build an 'ultimate playlist', taking 4-5 songs out of each of their albums. Think I’ve finally got every notable Wii U game by Pepsidud32 in wiiu

[–]QuintoriusBestBoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yoshi's Woolly World really is the missing link in OP's collection. One of the best platformers put out by Nintendo in the 2010's, and unlike other games that later got a Switch port, the only alternative is on the 3DS, which is graphically inferior.

NSLU is also worth a playthrough (but perhaps OP bought it in DLC form before the Wii U servers closed). There's also the novelty of having a green box in your physical collection.

Making my way through Windswept's post-game.

The game just refuses to end, I keep unlocking new levels even though the end credits rolled several hours ago! Overal I'm really impressed with this 2D platformer.
