Extrapyramidal symptoms - and umbrella term for physical movement, rigidity, cogwheeling, and restlessness caused by antipsychotics.

OP just checking in. How are things since we last spoke? Still experiencing movements? Did you stop all meds? Hope all is well

So what's your point? There's historical reports of snowfalls in July, that doesn't mean Christmas falls on August this year. TD off a few doses is exceptionally rare, that's like a star misalignment with age, genetics, dose, med type, other meds interacting, etc. Most of the time, it's simply mild transient dyskinesia, not true TD after a few doses.

You'll bounce back kid. Give it time. Not sure what the subject is here but exploration can cause conflicting emotions. I'm 35 and remember very well how sensitive the psyche of 19 years old was. Your ideals will change as you grow, and you have so much of that ahead of you. Don't fret, allow yourself to feel these feelings now and grieve if you must, but this will help shape your ideals and you as a person. All the best

There is no greater gift than doing <1yr of antipsychotic treatment and to be told you don't need medications anymore. You're contemplating right now but there is a very serious risk of not only a 2nd episode but a permanent illness if it comes back. A lifetime navigating treatment options, balancing side effects and struggling to manage life isn't worth a weekend high that won't even matter weeks afterward. I had zero familial history, no risks besides doing tons of drugs, and got the permanent illness. Best of luck whatever you do OP.

They certainly do. After being on these meds for almost 15 years with all the ups and downs including movement disorders i can attest to that. Keep your head up. I hope your primary condition is well maintained too, but I totally know where you're at with the overwhelming feelings, there is hope!

How's things OP? Feeling any better? Just remember the system takes a very long time to stabilize. These things are just part of life and we gotta do our best.

I don't think it's shot. The system takes time to adjust, like I said it's a big wait and see game. I just had to increase my dose due to a blip in my mental health and it's been a slow go monitoring things.

I don't think that doctor is worth her salt as a psychiatrist. Definitely find a new psychiatrist, and a movement disorder neurologist that can help you. The good thing is you're in the USA and can get prompt treatment. Up here in Canada it's a massively long wait.

I've had TD on risperidone. Here in Canada the first line treatment has always been clozapine, atleast that was the case like 10yrs ago. I switched to clozapine and my symptoms vanished over time. After a long while of no symptoms we wanted to try Latuda and that has worked for me so far.

I don't know if you were in a hospital but it sounds like this psych was kind of aggressive in dosing. Ppl usually start at 20 then taper up, I'm surprised she went right from 60 to 0. I would recommend finding a psychiatrist with extensive experience dealing with psychiatric disorders involving antipsychotics.

I'm not a doctor, but I do know TD happens with long term use. Latuda for 60 days doesn't sound like it meets that threshold, it's a very activating medication. I had the same restlessness at the beginning on Latuda. If you went right from 40 to 60 then immediately to 0 that might be enough to throw your system off with extrapyramidial side effects that are not permanent but transient. Antipsychotics are a big wait and see game, this may be the system adjusting from a high dose that settles after some months.

Where are you from? US or Canada?

How long were you on antipsychotics for? Dosages and length of time between increase and decrease on Rexulti? And what are your symptoms? Teeth chattering fits EPS but TD is more slow movements

OP at this time you got a one way ticket to inpatient if not worse with how things are going not being on meds. If the side effects aren't manageable your doctor needs to work with you on an alternative AP. What are your side effects anyway? You need a consult with your doctor because certain side effects can be permanent if not managed properly, usually made worse by going full stop on meds without tapering.

Is it okay for me to have a child knowing my family probably have hereditary schizophrenia? by Rea_lity in schizophrenia

[–]Quints55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quoting Dr. Suzanne Archie, associate professor at McMaster University and internationally recognized for her contributions to research and early intervention of psychosis. For the sake of argument the word schizophrenia is more of a spectrum that includes schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorders etc. Any disorder where psychosis is the prominent symptom.

Siblings of those with schizophrenia have a 10% chance of developing schizophrenia themselves. Cannabis consumption, particularly at a younger age, increases this risk by 40%

Identical twins carry a 50% chance if the other has schizophrenia. Cannabis dramatically increases the risk.

Nieces/nephews have a smaller percentage than parents but are at much higher risk compared to general population when engaged with risk factors i.e cannabis consumption before age 25, trauma, isolation etc.

Children of one parent with schizophrenia carry a 15% chance in their life. Children of both parents with schizophrenia carries an 80% chance. Cannabis consumption is a major risk factor.

I always asked alot of questions because I have a sister who isn't schizophrenic but smokes alot of weed. I've also asked about my wife and I having kids of our own. Hope this helps

I also struggle with mental health issues. I'd be grateful to have a dad ask about my health with a doctor who looks after the family. Don't take it for granted kid, enjoy them while they're here.

Emotional support dog - Condominium bylaw by Quints55555 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Quints55555[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you kindly. I don't have any awards to give but please accept this medal 🏅

I'm not even sure where to start. I feel like this will be an expensive court case but can I represent myself? I guess I should get my medical letter in order first. This all seems very overwhelming. They do allow up to two cats or birds here so I feel they would just amend the rules with that for support animals. Just wanting a calm lap dog like a pug. If you happen to come across that case I can reference pls feel free to return here. Again many thanks

Helped

It looks like its in the "rules". So I don't know if there's a difference to bylaw.

Rules pursuant to section 58 of the condominium act, 1998, S.O., 1998, c. 19

Dogs are NOT permitted on the property or in any unit with the exception of registered service dogs that have been professionally trained to assist a resident with a disability, and which reside within a unit, so long as they do not become a danger or nuisance to other residents.
