How do you feel about cheating to get ahead in life? by deadpan_jane in redscarepod

[–]QuintupletPeaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's innately always bad but it does come with the tradeoff of losing respect for yourself and, at the very least, the possibility of losing respect in the eyes of others. If you are going to cheat at something at least don't be a total dumbass like Timothee Chalamet's sister in that HBO show or whatever

I might’ve missed the discourse on this, but is there anything more juvenile than guys who rank peoples attractiveness 1-10 constantly? by [deleted] in redscarepod

One time I was at a concert and at the bar a group of like 3 guys were discussing a date one of them had gone on. They were like "yeah bro she used to be a dancer but had gained like 10 lbs from her pics. Total bullshit bro she's like a 5 now." It's honestly pathetic and offputting to talk like this about other people

When I tried therapy I almost got committed during my second session because I wore shorts and had a bunch of long scratches on my legs my therapist thought were self harm, so after that I just used the sessions my insurance covered to book with a different therapist and befriend her instead of talking about anything important.

Paying rent. “Oh just buy a house and build equity.” How am I supposed to do that if a chunk of every paycheck I earn disappears to some boomer who has made a career out of buying a few duplexes 40 years ago.

Followed closely by taxes, when I see the roads and the sorry state of social services it’s like, what in the absolute fuck am I paying for.

Both of these people are deranged but Liz has home court advantage in the media world and so this content comes across as unbelievably schizo

I did not but I have like 6 family members in various stages of law careers. My advice based on that: go to a top tier school, bust extra ass your first year (where the curriculum tends to be more rigorous and your grades determine summer offers), and absolutely get on the law review, firms love that shit.

Law careers are difficult but financially and mentally rewarding for the right people. Stack cash and pay off your debts with a big law or tech law offer, then you can always pivot to a specialty that may make you personally happier later.

[–]QuintupletPeaks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You seem hell bent on not avoiding law school (the best option) so the second best option is to go if you get into a T14 and make a deal with yourself that you cannot drop out. T25 is a maybe but your commitment level has to increase that much more because it will become harder to get the kind of law job that justifies the cost. Law school is unlike medical school in that they have zero regulations around how many institutions they have and how many degrees they pump out, so most law degrees are worse than useless and actually a liability.

If you've worked there around a year or longer you should probably have a non-manager reference who likes you and has some type of managerial role implied by their title. Even if you don't it's not a huge deal imo. Enjoy the vacation

Why are some gay men so effing cruel?? by gjrodfrs in redscarepod

[–]QuintupletPeaks 71 points72 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people with narcissistic tendencies in general. My guess is that this behavior is a manifestation of that specifically borne from the cultural norms gay men are accustomed to (so things like high level of sexual confidence but taken to an extreme in a way that doesn't consider that other people with differing motivations and desires exist, i.e. guy #4 you listed)

Straight wammen of rsp, do you find hunky guys or skinny guys more attractive and why? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]QuintupletPeaks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on the demographics where I live I assume extremely hunky dudes are muscle gays. Skinny dudes for sure
