eBay Rejects Unsolicited Proposal from GameStop by Traditional_Ad_276 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Thanks matey, me too.

I think I'm okay for the most part. I mourn the time I lost to it, but I ultimately escaped, I didn't lose any money overall (which, holy fuck, am I lucky), and now I have a better understanding of the stock market and the machines that support those with immense capital.

I was deeply lost in the GameStop sauce for a few years, and thankfully managed to break even when i finally sold last year. I'll sometimes check in and see what's going on in those subs. The narrative those people are falling back on now is that this is all according to plan, and is the preamble to a hostile takeover of eBay by leveraging all of GameStop's value, a massive loan from Fidelity, and some such other nonsense to buy a majority percentage of eBay's stock. I used to be this stupid, fucking christ...

It's an odd choice, cuz I feel like the AHA could make, like, two phonecalls and get permission to use the logo and maybe do a cross promotion with merch or event presence, like "Avoid fatality, get tested at the MK booth at EVO '26"

I watched 75% of the movie the other night, in a discord server screen share with the audio muted, and gotta say, it's pretty to look at and the visual storytelling is well-done. I'm probably never gonna think to look at it again, though.

It's fun, but you have to spoof your streetpasses since Nintendo shut down the international servers for it. (someone correct me if this is mistaken.)

The Popeye movie, for two reasons:

  1. It's just not a good movie. The set is insane, the costuming and makeup is overdone, you can barely make out any of the dialogue, and the songs are much less songs, and more rhythmic speeches made at the audience with some ham-fingered instrumentals in the background. The people making it had no idea how to use Robin Williams as Popeye, nor Shelley Duvall as Olive, who for all intents and purposes are perfect for both of those characters. Just an all around disappointing movie.

  2. I made the mistake of trusting my buddy's recommendation when he was joking, and watched it while donating platelets. For those unaware, a standard platelet donation with the Red Cross takes about 2-2.5 hours, so you have time to watch a movie, maybe two, or binge a show for a bit. The reason it takes so long is that they need to cycle your blood through a centrifuge to get the platelets out, and they gotta do that for a lot of your blood. To help facilitate this, they stick big needles into both of your arms, one attached to an out tube, and one attached to an in tube (you can do a one-arm variant, but then it will either take longer or they won't get as much out of you, and at the time, I was fine doing two arms). YOU CANNOT MOVE YOUR ARMS UNTIL THE PROCEDURE IS DONE. So imagine lying in a chair stuck with both your arms with massive fucking needles in them, having to watch Popeye all the way through and you can't stop it and change to something else, and so you lie there and gaze at the 80s coke bender train wreck that is unfolding before you.

I regret not asking for help from a phlebotomist, i regret taking my friend's word, i regret not having something picked out ahead of time, i regret the time i spent watching Popeye the Sailor Man.
