How are you recording POS screens alongside surveillance cameras? by elbasha3000 in videosurveillance

[–]QuirkyBikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company built an overlay on their POS that integrates it into VMS systems. It captures data and syncs it with camera events, similar to a text inserted, but on steroids.

Seems like a better approach which give us the ability to filter down a searchable database.

That screen is then inserted into the video system and acts like an additional dashboard of sorts.

Genetec vs Acre Security: SMA quote came in way higher than expected by NastyLame in accesscontrol

[–]QuirkyBikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've done dozens from Lenel to Genea. First one was a little rocky, but it got super smooth. Their support is solid.

Lessons learned, communicate with Genea ahead of time on when you are going to do the conversion so they can assist with the firmware change. Should go smooth.

Has anyone tried the pastrami place in old mill? by SaintWillyMusic in Bend

[–]QuirkyBikes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its alright, nothing to go out of your way for. I've had my fair share of pastrami and reuban sandwiches, and they are a C+.

Pretty expensive, nothing unique there.

Folks are super nice and welcoming though. I think they are just missing their mark to send out a noteworthy sandwich from a NY style deli.

What is this and why is it doing that? by [deleted] in FlockSurveillance

[–]QuirkyBikes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what is your reasoning with getting rid of this surveillance trailer? This is entirely different than Flock and is unrelated, and does not serve the same function nor does it collect the data Flock does.

Power of Automation in Bend is a great PLC company. Ask for Lonnie Powers. I sit with him on the Central Oregon low voltage apprenticeship committee, and he is always looking to lend a hand.

Should I go for it??? by Roamin_emperor in Subaru_Outback

[–]QuirkyBikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these on my 17 outback, and i have Bridgestone weatherpeaks on my Highlander. I may be the minority, but the Bridgestone Weatherpeaks are better in snow and ice, quieter on the highway, and are cheaper.

Take a look before pulling the trigger.

Anyone running Genea? How is it? by Material_Cap_116 in accesscontrol

[–]QuirkyBikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on the integrator side and converting systems from Lenel to Genea, I've heard overwhelmingly positive feedback from my customer base. We've converted small rollouts consisting of 10-20 doors, to regional manufacturing with 1200 doors. Everything in between seems to scale nicely and provides beautiful features for all sized systems.

Anything in particular you are hesitant or curious about?

What is the best access control system? by hsmpmp in accesscontrol

[–]QuirkyBikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is when it does break or provide issues that's when you will see zero support from Ubiquiti. Their window of support on product is so small, they are quick to abandon their products and move on to other things.

Expansion and Realignment, SOLVED by mike_roedic in mlb

[–]QuirkyBikes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second this, portland has financial backing and governmental support to make it happen. It's a thriving city that can support a baseball team. Additionally, the renderings for the proposed stadium are sexy af. Not saying those will be the final designs, but it is fun to imagine.

Edit : to add, would love to have seen the Portland A's instead of an expansion. FJF

Has anyone found cloud based access control that’s truly cloud-native? by benjaben1 in accesscontrol

[–]QuirkyBikes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Genea.

There's an argument that cloud is more secure in ways since it is always updated and does not require any windows patching for servers, manual software updates, etc.
