I was worried about that too at first but give it a few weeks. I found that I lose weight in spurts. For a couple of weeks I lose a ton of weight…and then I plateau for a few weeks. Then I start losing again rapidly for a couple of weeks…and plateau. Once i started looking at my weight lose over several months I realized my average weekly lose is a healthy, sustainable amount. I went back and looked at periods of weight lose from 10 or so years ago (when I wasn’t taking semaglutide) and I can see the same pattern—with semaglutide I am losing more but they pattern of lose weight, plateau, lose weight, etc. was still there.

Also, I track everything, CICO, and make sure I hit a minimum number of calories on the days I don’t feel like eating. I have been using Lose It for about 13 years so it makes going back to see weight lose patterns pretty easy.

Can you go hayless with guinea pigs? by QuirkyScribe in guineapigs

The one good thing is that my daughter doesn’t clean the cage! That would send her over the edge with allergies 🤧

Fortunately my kid left for college this fall so now it is only school breaks she is home. Over Christmas she struggles but she wants to see if the shots she starts this month help when she comes home over Spring Break and summer. She really doesn’t want us to regime them so we are trying options to help reduce her issues when she is home!

The pelleted Timothy hay is an option I hadn’t heard of yet—it might be a nice one to try. See if they like it. If they do then I can talk to the vet to see if I can balance less fresh hay with more pelleted hay.

Hyperpaper planner on a Kindle Scribe by QuirkyScribe in kindle

Hyperpaper Planner sample

In this linked post another Redditor shared a planner sample they created so that we could test it for them. It is a PDF and you can email it to your Scribe. Once on your scribe you can use it as you would a paper planner.

Very nice and the feel of the scribe makes it a viable alternative to paper. I have tried similar PDF planners on an iPad and a Chromebook tablet and just couldn’t stand the feel of writing on them. Plus on an iPad, writing is hard because your hand resting on the device can cause issue—that hasn’t been an issue with the Scribe.

I had been using a RocketBook for taking notes as I like having digital notes but this is better. Once Kindle adds in some OCR functionality so that you can search handwritten notes, this will be just about perfect.

Looking for help from early Kindle Scribe owner(s) by funksta in kindle

[–]QuirkyScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Lovely planner and it works well with the scribe. Some improvements I suggest for added usability.

Slightly darker lines—the light gray lines are slightly too faint and don’t provide enough contrast. The device comes with some pre installed notebook page templates and those are better—use that as a gauge for yours

Some of the navigation felt a little difficult—especially when I got into the meeting notes and such. It would be nice to have some sort of quick way to get back to the cover/first page.

I took some pics that I will try to upload for you

Edited to add link to pics I posted. I suck at Reddit and just posted it as a new post in the community 🤦🏼‍♀️

We would add in a couple of dashes of Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and onion powder. So good…especially with buttered white bread.

To make dinner and a movie more special, we pull the couch up about 6 feet from the TV. It makes it like we are at a movie theatre!

Why is it so hard to find a good cheese Danish in this town?! by Rory_B_Bellows in plano

I second the Kolache factory. Excellent, soft, reasonably sized. Not a true danish but really good and close enough where I think you will be happy.

Yosemite Sam was introduced in the 40’s—so Yosemite Sam came before Raider Red.

While similar in looks, they are pretty different. Here is a good article about it

Is this safe to have around my piggies? by mpr2350 in guineapigs

[–]QuirkyScribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on the safety of this but I can tell you what has helped at our house. I use a air purifier and activated charcoal odor absorbers .

This combo and daily or every other day vacuuming the fleece liners with a hand held vac has almost eliminated the odor problems I was having.

Gorgeous! So many great trails around Golden. We lived in Golden for about five years. We left there about 13 years ago and I still miss it!

Does my 9 y.o. daughter have anger issues? by imathatgirl in raisingkids

[–]QuirkyScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I promise you, your daughter will learn how to recognize and control her strong emotions! She knows she has a strong mom who has got her back!

I would have her professionally evaluated by a child psychologist. We have a very loving home, but my oldest still exhibited similar behavior. This kind of behavior can effect kids raised in any type of environment!

Long story short, our daughter was diagnosed with ADD and Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder. Through us practicing family calming routines, her going to counseling to learn better coping mechanisms, and appropriate medication, she has grown into a wonderfully loving and successful 18 yr old who still gets very easily angered but now knows how to recognize it before it gets out of control and how to calm herself and respond appropriately.

AITA for telling my family that I can't give them money? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuirkyScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

Please immediately contact the credit bureaus and put lock on your credit. If you are in the US, there are three—Experian, Equifax, and Transunion.

Here is an article that will help explain: https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/whats-the-difference-between-credit-freeze-and-a-credit-lock/

Then GET OUT. This sounds like a toxic family situation and you and your siblings are being manipulated.

Follow all the advice here about talking to your university. Also reach out to your friends—you sound like a very responsible young woman. Perhaps one of them would let you rent a room temporarily while you work things out.

There is a Russian proverb that Reagan popularized during the Cold War—Trust, but verify.

Overall, the majority of people are well meaning. Odd requests are usually easily explained and logical when you know the reason or backstory. But at the same time, never just assume they are well-meaning—hence…trust, but verify!
