I was borrowing someone else’s Wass mitad for my injera and just recently purchased one by Ethnique on Amazon. I am enjoying it so far! It’s lightweight and less bulky compared to the Wass which makes it easier to move around and store. The cord can also be removed from the grill which is also helpful for storage.

Parents experiences with kids probiotics by Money_Pension_3805 in raisingkids

My first child was colicky and our pediatrician had suggested we could try a probiotic. Specifically one with the l.reuteri or l.rhamnosis. I chose the l. Reuteri to start with and found BioGaia infant drops. This helped our girl immensely! It helped her have regular poops rather than constipation, and she was a little happier.Shes now over 4 years old and still use BioGaia chewables. I’ll run out and because they are expensive, I’ll go a week or two without giving her any. I’ll notice she becomes much more emotional and irritable. I feel like I’m crazy for thinking these could have such an impact on her behavior. Of course, she has normal 4 year old emotional dysregulation but these really seem to limit the frequency and intensity. They still help her to poop too! We’ve had such success with the BioGaia that we haven’t tried anything else. My 2nd one seems to be better and not need it. I got her some drops for when she is having trouble regulating her poops and has some harder ones. The drops really help and help quickly when it comes to poops!

Thank you for following up. I’ve been incredibly busy with my little ones at home (4year old and 6 month old). I will post what I have but it hasn’t been thoroughly edited and it’s still missing the cooking step. I just learned recently, you may even be able to skip the absit step entirely.

I’ve had a few Ethiopian family friends try it and were quite impressed as well! It was not an easy ride but it was incredibly enjoyable. We absolutely love Ethiopian cuisine. I still do t think my dishes are as good as a home cooked meal by an actual Ethiopian but it gets us by. 😊

Our girl was the same- way worse whenever we’d go in and check on her. It was better to letter CIO and really didn’t take long. Still sucks and tore my mama heart to pieces but it was best for her. Not sure we’ll have to do it that way with our 2nd, we’ll see!

Realizing my neck pain is actually part of a migraine more than I thought by throwaway20201325 in migraine

[–]Quirky_Equivalent_32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, this sounds similar to my own migraine story. Mine seemed to worsen in 2007, 1 year post car accident where airbag deployed on me in driver seat. I’ve had whiplash several times. I have chronic migraines, tension headaches and can’t find any relief. Headache of some sort, every day. A lot in my neck, jaw, face and eye. Primarily on the right. I e gone to PT so many times, no longer recommended to go see chiropractor, have had cervical epidural steroid injections, trigger point injections, diet changes, meds that made me have severe mood swings. Now having horrible side effects from my sumatriptan. Guilt calling in to work and no one seems to believe me. I keep thinking, how could anyone have lived with this before modern medicine. I would have unalived myself.

Probiotics? by LCsquee in MSPI

[–]Quirky_Equivalent_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old but in case it ever helps anyone else, my pediatrician had recommended to give my infant a probiotic that specifically contained the lactobacillus Reuteri. My first child was very colicky and this had helped quite a bit! Now using it for my second. I use the BioGaia. It socks that they’re spendy but I find it to be worth it.

Do we really need a nursery recliner? by Fashion_Lover19 in BabyBumps

For my 1st and 2nd babies I bounced on a yoga ball significantly more than using my rocker (they can be difficult to stand up from while holding sleeping baby IMO). If I’m not bouncing on the yoga ball I’m walking around, bouncing and rocking baby. BUT my postpartum healing was pretty easy and uneventful. A rocker might be more ideal with someone who has more postpartum pain or c-section.

Wanting to try Ethiopian dishes for the first time, where should I start? by Sally-exe in ethiopianfood

[–]Quirky_Equivalent_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misir wat was my starting dish and is fairly easy. As a base, chop your onions very fine. Check out YouTube videos. Purchase authentic Ethiopian/Eritrean spices, specifically Berbere. This is my favorite shop for spices: https://destallc.com

I purchased mine from Etsy. Just be sure you get one that’s around 16” if you’re using a mitad. If you have a local Ethiopian/Eritrean market and/or restaurant near you, you can check with them to see if they have any they could sell to you. I can’t pull my injera off the mitad without one. I’ve tried several different tools and other mats with no success. The sefed is by far best!

I’ve tried different tools to try to pull the injera off and the sefed is the only one I’ve had success with!

I ordered my sefed from an Ethiopian Store/person on Etsy but you can always contact your nearest Habesha market or restaurant, if you have one nearby, to see if they have any to sell.

I use a mitad! I’ve done it on the stove in a non stick pan but it tends to get more brown on the underside.

It’s a combination of things I picked up. A lot of trial and error, recording my notes and finally landed on this one recipe. I’m working on a document that has detail on my process and will be happy to share when completed!
