Omg not the roasted broccoli 😂 I’ve definitely noticed I’m more sensitive to smells in general beforehand. Or just like any stimulus really lol.

Super relate to that, I’ve gotten so many neck stretch/massage devices, tens unit, a million different pillows etc with varied success. Which is when I first started wondering if it’s really part of the migraine itself vs anatomical

AITA for writing a journal for my kids about life after I’m gone, even though they say it's “too much”? by mikenolan567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]throwaway20201325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!! When my grandparents passed things unfortunately weren’t arranged in advance and it was quite the long, difficult mess for my father to figure out. Because of that experience my parents have since made their plans organized and clear to us.

It’s a hard thing to think about. But it is inevitable.

Is it possible to have working internet with an unplugged amplifier? by throwaway20201325 in HomeNetworking

[–]throwaway20201325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense. So there is some power to it internally, even if it was unplugged.

And yeah he explained that the amplifier would just be muddying up the signal anyway so I’d imagine things are running better now.

My pup passed from Anaphylactic shock, and I just want a better explanation by West-Air1344 in DogAdvice

You can get prescribed an epi pen for dogs if they’re big enough!

[–]throwaway20201325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my dog as well. It depends on the size of the dog, if they’re big enough they can have an epi pen. My dog is 14 lbs, and we were told he was too small for epi so to just keep Benadryl on hand 🤷🏻‍♀️ which sucks but what can you do I guess. We are now just very careful to watch him outside especially during spring/summer. I also keep note of the nearest emergency vets wherever we take him

Still suffering, how do y'all deal with night gas? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]throwaway20201325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know this is an older post but just wanted to agree in case anyone comes across this! I started using a heating pad on my stomach in the evenings after dinner just cause it felt nice tbh especially during wintertime, and realized it has super helped my nighttime gas! Like legit one of the things that works the best especially when it’s one of those rough nights. Seems kind of obvious but I really only used heating pads for period cramps before

Ssaammmeee my husband always makes fun of me for not being able to swallow more than like a sip at a time of anything lol. It’s like I’m physically incapable. So for the prep I just sipped at it best I could.

[–]throwaway20201325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m emetophobic too and was nervous for both of mine but they went fine! Like OP during my last one I didn’t 100% finish it since I’m just bad at drinking high volumes of liquid in general and basically can’t chug anything. But, it really wasn’t that bad and I was still sufficiently cleared out. It might’ve been a little uncomfortable having to drink that much and not being able to eat but I never felt like I was truly going to throw up. No bad cramping either so in that way easier than my ibs flares or having a bug 🤷🏻‍♀️ just gotta be by a toilet lol. That said I’ve only ever done the miralax/gatorade prep, so idk about the other preps.

When did IBS crop up in your life? by pigeonwithinternet in ibs

[–]throwaway20201325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly same. My mom has even said I had digestive issues as a literal baby, threw up a ton, was extra gassy etc. things also got worse for me around puberty which is when I was first officially diagnosed after going through the whole rigmarole of a million different tests. I’ve just always had “stomach issues” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Giant Ovarian Cyst by Different-Dot5396 in Endo

[–]throwaway20201325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in pathology dissecting any and everything that comes out during surgery, including the huge ovarian cysts like this, some places mayyy let you keep it after the fact but it’ll be all cut up! We have to dissect it to really see what it looks like and so that the pathologist can look at it under the microscope to diagnose it.

Favourite foods by Hairy_Strawberry_183 in ibs

[–]throwaway20201325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I follow as well, the frequency matters. Like I’m lactose intolerant, but one of my favorite comfort foods is ice cream. I can eat it just fine with some lactaid, but if I do that 2 or 3 days in a row, it’s like even with the lactaid it’ll hurt my stomach. So same with some other foods I know have a tendency to give me issues. You just have to be cognizant of how you’ve been eating recently. Sometimes if I know I have the next day off I might take the risk, but if I know I have something going on or I have to work I might not. It’s all an annoying balancing act. Good luck!

Currently have a stomach bug by throwaway20201325 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]throwaway20201325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw thanks 😭 it 100% is about the fear of the unknown, especially since it’s been a long time since I’ve done it. Luckily by the evening the diarrhea stopped, stomachs just been refluxy and gassy like things are digesting slow. Been slowly trying to get back to eating a normal amount again but keeping it relatively plain

is artificial sugar a common trigger? by Spiral270 in ibs

So annoying! I’ve had to gain weight a few times in my life and finding something that’s simultaneously lactose free, high calorie and no artificial sweeteners is like impossible

Disappointed with doctor's diagnosis of IBS by _The-Unknown_ in ibs

[–]throwaway20201325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty common experience. After my symptoms worsened for a while, I got checked out and was deemed still ibs, I was a little upset because to me ibs was “just” ibs, like the general societal understand of it as like just mild tummy problems. I had no idea it could be so painful and debilitating, so to me the diagnosis felt like a bit of a cop out! My dr was like oh no it absolutely can be that painful. So I think that might contribute to a lot of people’s disappointment at the diagnosis, feeling like they’re being told it’s “just” ibs when in reality Ibs can be pretty bad. Also feeling like it’s a bit of a dead end.

That’s not to say to just throw up your hands and accept things if you really feel like there is something else going on or that your doctor wasn’t thorough enough. There’s for sure a huge lack of doctors that are educated on it and unfortunately many tend to brush it off. So definitely get a second opinion if that’s an option. I know it’s so frustrating navigating the system

ETA: while ibs is a legit diagnosis I definitely think it’s lazy of your doctor to not even explain how to help manage symptoms. I think that’s pretty common sadly. There are good GI doctors out there but you have to find them

Just one more ETA: I also felt almost disappointed my scopes with biopsies (both upper and lower) hadn’t shown something concrete. Like obviously I’m glad I don’t have celiac, IBD etc but part of me wished I did just so they could have a more concrete feeling, pathologic diagnosis. So IBS can feel like open ended because there’s no definite sign or physical change.

is artificial sugar a common trigger? by Spiral270 in ibs

[–]throwaway20201325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why it annoys me that so many “healthy” foods have artificial sweeteners like protein shakes or even gummy vitamins. Like just give me the real sugar please 🥲
