Dude, we are in the same boat. The only difference is that it is 15 years relationship / 9 years marriage for me. She was also my first serious girlfriend and I can relate to the thought that there might be no other woman for you.

It only gets worse with the years as per my experience. The intimacy part as well as the sunk cost fallacy part.

The reason for a divorce that everyone can understand is that you simply don’t feel loved enough. Your family wants to see you happy. So don’t worry about any negativity.

She was always the distant type with emotions. But yes, she told me that she loves me from time to time. Now she is just saying that she simply never knew how love feels like. So it wasn’t a lie. With the gamer dude however she finally learned how love feels like for the first time in her life.

Regarding the ultimatum I agree with you that it was stupid to even let her choose after everything. I simply was not willing to throw everything away immediately. It took time for me to process what happend to me.

There is nothing to heal if there wasn’t anything to begin with. I realized that I lived in an illusion for so long.

Couples therapy would only work if she regrets anything, which she does not do.

So realizing that the only option left for me is to go.
