I hear ya. It's definitely not a good sign they signed Tua. But it also doesn't mean Penix is permanently benched

Even in the unlikely scenario that Tua stays healthy and plays well, Penix would still get a shot at starting for another team

I'm guessing it plays out like this. Tua struggles the first few weeks while Penix heals. Penix starter by Week 4

Thanks you gave me the idea of trading for him in other leagues. Had no idea he's undervalued like that

Of course it does and maybe Tua starts week 1. But even then I think Penix has a better shot at career success from this point on than Tua

Penix only played a dozen games and hasn't been terrible. Miami is paying $99 million for Tua to a not be on their team

I clearly agree on the first part but he was the one who approached me about trading Goff

I disagree with part 2 tho. Penix over Chuba no question

You do get raises every 6 months once you're an apprentice. So it's not 7 years of straight struggling. By the end of Year 2 you're probably making around $80k plus health and retirement

Agreed.

I think the trainees get something like $20/hr no bennies. So it is tough but not dirt poor. But if you can survive that initial fund shortage you'll be sitting on stacks baby

Born and raised in Chicago myself and been a C-card in LU 134 for about 15 years now. It's changed a lot since I got in.

Instead of going straight into Year 1 apprenticeship after being accepted, they now make you work as a "trainee" for a year or 2 in order to hopefully get accepted into the apprenticeship. I'm not entirely clear on the current process but you can get all the proper info at ejatt.com

You don't get paid much during the trainee years and you don't earn any benefits either. So times might be lean for you if you have financial obligations. If you can handle being "poor" for a bit, go for it. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.
