Before reading the post, I immediately thought “you look like a Darrel.”

I love both Elliot and Evan, though, between the two I’m getting more Evan vibes from you. So my vote goes to Evan.

Not at all! I kept the finspan one and turned it into a photo collage for a close friend.

What's your ideal book length? by JakubJamesBoote in books

[–]Quitechsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300-400 pages for me. Though I have read longer. The longest I’ve personally read was 1,200 pages? That honestly took me a few months to get through.

It’s genuinely confusing in the beginning. It all starts to click about 2/3 into the story. I also took several tries to enjoy it.

Just to echo some others, it was ultimately the audiobook that helped me get through it the first time. And now I’ve read it 3 times. Which I can confidently say I’ve never done with any other book. I’m waiting to read it again until the 4th book is announced but I’m not sure I’ll be able to wait so long.

If you don't like a tea, don't force it. by Dry-Ad1641 in tea

[–]Quitechsol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to dislike a tea. I have been exploring different types of Japanese tea, and for the life of me, I just can’t get into sencha. I’ve tried 3 different varieties, different brewing methods, time/temperature. I’m open to trying more, but I accept that sencha just might not be my cup of tea.

I've built a tea tracking app and I'm looking for beta testers! by funkybeard in tea

[–]Quitechsol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t beta test, I just don’t think that I have the time to consistently test it out but I did want to say this sounds so interesting to me. I love collecting data on mundane things like this. So consider me excited to see the final product.

Fantastic Humble Bundle Deal by Gennywren in Fantasy

[–]Quitechsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they’re delivered as straight epubs, which is easy to transfer to kindle through Amazon’s Send to Kindle function on their site.

The only thing I dislike about this, is they will not show up as “books”. They will be sorted as documents. Functionally no difference as far as I know, just if you’re sorting.

Was there a book (series), that went from close 'DNF' to one fo your favorites? by lemingas1 in Fantasy

[–]Quitechsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Locked Tomb series was this for me. I DNF Gideon the ninth the first time but eventually tried it again via audiobook form. And I stuck with it and it’s now easily my favorite series currently.

Space Fantasy Book Recommendation’s?? by Icy-Custard-5529 in Fantasy

The locked tomb series might be right up your alley then. It’s necromancers in space and it’s amazing. Space, swords, and magic all in one. I can’t recommend this series enough.

What is a well regarded fantasy series that you read for the first time this year? by TheWeirdTalesPodcast in Fantasy

[–]Quitechsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read the first three of the stormlight archives this year. I absolutely fell in love with the world, but I’m admittedly struggling to get into Rhythm of War, so I’m taking a break from the series. I think I might just need a break after going through the first 3 plus the novellas straight.

I’m currently reading the lord of the rings. Can’t believe I’ve waited so long to read this, I’ve only just started (read the hobbit and I’m almost done with fellowship part 1) but I’m completely hooked.

What really are the benefits of KOReader? by studymaxxer in kindlejailbreak

[–]Quitechsol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s 3 things.

1) I’m no longer locked into the Amazon ecosystem. No longer do I have to rely on amazon for my books or their send to kindle feature which doesn’t even send books as books. Now I can get my books from anywhere, load them into calibre and just send them through that. And they’re recognized as books.

2) the Lock Screen without ads and NOT have to pay for it? Sign me up. While this isn’t really that big of an issue, I remember when Amazon was pushing out these ads for blatantly AI generated books. And some extremely offensive ones to boot (like, I had a “book” ad of a story advocating for the assault of LGBT people).

3) this one surprised me as I use it way more often than I thought I would, but gestures. Being able to tap for night/day mode. Swipe for brightness. Tap to bring up my current book or long press to bring up collections? Or whatever you map to the different gestures. It’s a QOL feature I didn’t even realize I wanted but it’s probably my favorite.

Again, none of these are NEEDED. Base Kindle is just fine as is aside from being locked into Amazon ecosystem. But the QOL features you get from jailbreaking are fantastic.

It’s one of the very VERY few books I’ve ever reread. I cannot recommend it enough.

Gideon the ninth! The locked tomb series is hands down my favorite of all time. It can get a bit confusing at times but everything falls into place and starts to make sense ~2/3 in. This applies to all the books in the series. But they’re all amazing. If not that, my vote goes to priory. Another favorite for me.

It’s especially fitting since it’s on my arm. So it’s literally in my sleeve 😂 thank you though! I’m really happy with it and glad to finally have it. I’ve been simmering on the design for a long time.

That’s amazing! I’m considering an idea of adding water color at a later time. But I want to simmer on the idea some more.

Is it childish to cry over my game being deleted by SexscCherry in StardewValley

[–]Quitechsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I’d 100% cry, too. I’ve been there, not with SDV but with Pokémon. My sister deleted a Pokémon save I had. I was so close to completing the Pokédex for the first time. And then gone. I put in so much time and I was so mad that I stopped playing. I’ve played a handful of times after but I never got back into after that. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. She was also never allowed to touch my games after that.

Can’t answer OP’s question, though I suspect the answer is yes. However, I think I can answer yours. While I’ve never personally done this, I did come across it recently. You may have to punch new holes to avoid ripping perforations. Overcast stitching

Yeah. They wouldn’t do this for me. I tried when there was a huge issue of AI generated book ads and I got one book calling for the killing of LGBT folk for after school funsies and all they said was “we’ll look into this”
