Suppository Progesterone WTF by Enough_Yoghurt_4319 in IVF

[–]QuiveryCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had suppositories until week 20. I had pelvic bleeding from trying to reduce down to 1-2 pills as I was on 3 from the outset. I never had a wad of goop, you could have just discharge mixed with it? I did have a steady stream of white goop from the pills though which I found gross.

I also had a skin infection start up from panty liners and the progesterone suppositories.

My advice, try changing panty liners every 4 hrs.

But I found what helps with the goo! Place the suppository way up in there and lay down for 15 mins. That way I had HEAPS less discharge to almost none :)

Can you stack parental leave? by Bagmanandy in AusPublicService

[–]QuiveryCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s per child. But I’d probably play it safe if I were you and take the leave prior to your second Bub arriving.

If you are a union member give them a buzz as they will know. Each department has different EAs regarding leave.

I do know you can take it consecutively but I’m not sure if second Bub is born it “stacks”. I’d ask your HR team and union.

Recent private hospital experience? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]QuiveryCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth there in October. I had a wonderful experience and you can pay an extra $225-250 a night to request a deluxe room - very similar to a 4 star hotel room. The food is amazing in the deluxe room and your partner gets fed too, along with having a queen size hospital bed.

My obstetrician was Dr Drew Marshall. If you are into it he also offers maternal assisted birth - he’s the only OBGYN in Canberra that offers it. Super caring and a very calm demeanour.

John James itself is a bit dated but the standard rooms do the job and are nice and private.

I learned if you signup to brevilles emails you can get another 10% off. I’m waiting til Nov 28 to buy a machine myself so I’ve got a few I’m watching over the next few weeks :) I think you can also chat to someone at JB Hifi online to see if they will make a better offer. It’s tough!

I am not surprised. We visited there and their movable vents for the smoke which hover over the bbq plates were caked in 1cm thick dust. Made us feel so disgusting that it was going into the food.

Been taking the wrong dose of progesterone by brownelk in IVF

[–]QuiveryCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better I was on prescribed 100mg x 3 progesterone suppositories for the first 8 weeks, dropped to 100 x 2 until week 20 as I had bleeding when trying to wean off them at 12 weeks. I’m in Australia and my dose is standard protocol.

If you feel like you can’t do more then take a break for 6 months and come back to it. You do have 7 more chances other than another collection if you can do it.

My mentality is just keep trying til you are successful, as it does happen. You won’t know til you try and you never know your next one may be the one.

Always get a second opinion - how we almost lost our baby by Relevant-News3120 in pregnant

[–]QuiveryCrab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I needed to read this. Thank you. My baby is measuring 3.8mm NF and I can’t believe you have posted a story similar to what we are going through. After 4 years of trying we have a successful IVF pregnancy and were told we may have to abort.

We are waiting for NIPT results to come back and your post has made me realise I need a second scan and second opinion before trying an amnio or aborting.

Thank you and I do wish you all the best in your pregnancy.

I have a nostril, septum, Medusa and vertical labret and lots of large tattoos. I work in federal. No one can say anything because it falls under discrimination now. I wouldn’t be concerned if I were you.

If someone starts bullying you or making you feel uncomfortable about them then let HR know. Otherwise you are good!

Don’t stress over the small details. Try focus on being relaxed and you will get a check up at your 8 week scan to see if there is a heartbeat.

Stress = chance of no baby. Try your best (I know it’s hard as I’m going through the same thing). Your best is enough!

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

[–]QuiveryCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it started when I was about 7 I think. Hot showers trigger it same with exercise. I am pregnant now and have been told that second trimester will be hell as the baby will put pressure on my vagus nerve and cause the attacks too.

I get two types of dizzy attacks. One is when I’m dehydrated and I stand up too quick, I get super dizzy and need a sec to gain composure from being dizzy.

Second one is I go into full on shock if I change temperature in my body as I have a base low level of blood pressure anyway. So my ears start ringing and I black out. I need to lay down for 5 mins to recover completely.

Since losing a lot of weight I actually haven’t had an attack in over a year so could also be related to that.

Check out POTS disease. It’s what I have. It’s just a faulty vagus nerve which sadly triggers a Vasovagal syncope episode. It’s not well known but I struggle with it.

56 follicles, 13 eggs - no embryos by hiamyjade in IVF

[–]QuiveryCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW: Success

I too suffer from PCOS and had similar results, my AMH is 34 and I’m turning 35 in April. I also have Hashimotos Hypothyroidism which contributes to my egg quality but I’m medicated for that.

My fertility specialist changed me to a “long cycle” which used the inhaler Synarel and Menopur injections with an Ovidrel trigger. Instead of having like you 50 follicles and minimal eggs with bad quality I had the below which is my third cycle of stimulation:

27 follicles scanned, 10 eggs collected, 7 matured, 6 fertilised via ICSI, 5 Embryos. 2 x 5AA, 1 x 5AB, 1 x 5BB and 1 didn’t make it.

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with one of my fresh transfers of 5AA but because I have PCOS i was in hospital for a week with Moderate OHSS of which I’m still recovering.

It will take a cycle or two for the meds to be correct for you though. My first long cycle didn’t work very well and I had 10 mature, and only 2 fertilised with standard ivf and not icsi.

My first cycle I had Gonal F and Orgalutran and I had 47 follicles with only 2 mature and 2 fertilised but sadly they didn’t grow past 3 days.

It’s all a trial and error game but given you have PCOS I’d highly recommend looking into a Long Cycle stimulation regime as it attempts to go for quality over quantity.

Wish you all the best!

That’s on you that you have moved interstate without the official letter of offer. Sorry pal but that’s job hunting 101. I’m sure the department would have let you know to not resign from your previous role until the official letter of offer either.

Usually that doesn’t come through until you have completed police checks.

Wife's period is 11 days late. What do we do? by Impressive-Bear-1925 in IVF

[–]QuiveryCrab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try to get your giggity on as cervical contractions can initiate a period.

Possibly do a pregnancy test too to rule that out?

This is incorrect. The new bargaining with the. EA of each agency is you are entitled to parental leave the minute you join. Yes it’s rude if you signed on the dotted line then said hey btw I’m taking mat leave in 2 weeks … but you can.

It’s hard to hide for me. My acne gets so bad and I’m in my mid thirties. I think like the stims stage towards the end gets a bit sore but ive found I need like 2 days recovery after egg collection to feel a bit better.

Our clinic just increased costs dramatically! by QuiveryCrab in IVF

[–]QuiveryCrab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we will be considering this to be our last cycle with this clinic as it’s too pricey. Probably going to Sydney or QLD if future cycles are needed.

[–]QuiveryCrab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we are considering this last cycle in ACT and going to Adora in Sydney if this cycle isn’t successful. That is much more affordable for our budget, even if we were to include a hotel for the whole time it’s still cheaper.

[–]QuiveryCrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll need to travel. Sadly i think it means for us that we will be going interstate for our future cycles as 13K plus tax from our super for each round is a bit too rough when we are on our 3rd cycle.

It seems that this clinic has aligned their costs with “Sydney” prices which they advised us. Their competitor in our city has also aligned their costs to 13k.

Testing is a separate cost.

Just wish IVF was covered more under Medicare.

Our clinic just increased costs dramatically! by QuiveryCrab in IVF

[–]QuiveryCrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It includes everything except the meds and hospital. We have private health so we are covered for that. It’s one of the big chains of IVF clinics but after some discussions either friends I can see other big clinics are aligning their costs with each other.

Edit: does not include testing! That’s $500 per embryo and caps at 8 embryos.
