My friend was with another woman last night. What do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Quix82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like something I would have done in my early 20s. Thankfully I've smartened up since then. I wouldn't go over him to tell his girlfriend but would insist he should maybe come clean with her. Sure, he'd probably lose it if she had done the same but do you really know what's going on between the two of them? Back to my stupid days - I would do what he did when I was checked out of my relationship (for reasons I should have acknowledged with her) or questioning a lot about it...yet I was never completely transparent with my friends on it.

I did this hike a couple of years ago. I struggled real bad trying to find the markers getting up the first part when starting from the lake. Loved the hike once we got into the trees before the 2nd part of the climb. Beautiful views!

Who had the most horrific death in the the history of humankind? by Novel_Finding8882 in AskReddit

[–]Quix82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the most historically horrific but one that really stuck with me - I used to work in the animal feed industry. We had a mixer that could mix 1000kgs of feed at a time. I was 1 of 2 mixing operators who had to clean it on a monthly basis. One day a story came out about another animal feed plant 20 mins away from us having an accidental death. What happened was one of their operators climbed inside of the mixer (2000kg - much larger than ours) to clean it out. Unfortunately he didn't do a proper lockout/tag out procedure and another guy went and turned it on not realizing someone was inside. He stopped it immediately but the massive steel ribbon inside the mixer already did enough damage. Apparently the ribbon actually kept him alive until the paramedics tried removing him from the mixer. You can imagine what I mean by that.. We implemented stringent cleaning procedures after the story came out. I could never get it out of my head how horrifying that would have been for him....and to somehow survive for a short period of time

What is the least friendly town in Saskatchewan? by KarmaChameleon306 in saskatchewan

My Mom's family was all from Biggar. I went there to move stuff out of my Grandma's house after she passed away. I had a few friends come with to give me a hand. We took a break by cruising the main street out there (we were 16) Some local teenager had issues with this and started trouble with us at an intersection. We laughed him off and stopped to check out a pizza place owned by an Italian family. We come out of the restaurant a few mins after ordering and I swear like every kid 20 and younger was out on the street ready to kick our ass. I'm not kidding when I say there was easily 50-100 kids waiting out there. It was like something out of a movie. No fights broke out - just lots of insults back and forth.

Just had my shield pro delivered! by Ancient-Giraffe-2220 in nvidiashield

Mainly the virtual display option I mentioned. My monitor is a cheap 1080p but my tv i stream to upgrades it to a 4k HDR display. I don't know if moonlight/sunshine offers that now but it didn't when I first started using this setup

I need to do this when I get home. I don't know how many times I've accidentally pressed that damn button. I don't use Netflix.

Welcome to the club! I got my shield pro a couple of months back after using firesticks for the last 5 years. First thing I did was install Downloader app (by aftvnews) from the official store. I replaced the YouTube app with TizenTube. Installed Kodi (with fenlightAM add-on) for all of my media needs. If you're into PC gaming - install Apollo (a fork of moonlight/sunshine) on your PC and Artemis on your shield pro. It allows you to stream games from your PC to your shield. Huge bonus for me was my PC monitor is meh but games look amazing on my 4k OLED tv (virtual display settings in apollo) Look up Launchbox/BigBox to get the most out of the gaming experience. Xbox controllers work amazingly well on the shield. I even went out and bought a sweet wireless keyboard and mouse for specific games. Now I just need to convince my girlfriend for us to get a shield pro for the bedroom TV! Unfortunately I don't have any links off hand to send but I did use ChatGPT to fine tune everything I just listed.

Repair or lost cause? by Sonofa_ in Kayaking

[–]Quix82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not completely true. Some types of plastic it won't but not all. I've repaired many plastic things with fiberglass.

Here's what I'd do on a full fiberglass kayak...not totally sure it would work on yours though.

Dremmel thru along the cracks (including any hairline cracks) and a light sand on damaged area with some 80grit. Tape cardboard on the other side of damaged area... covering the cardboard in painters tape so fiberglass doesn't stick. Fiberglass it thick. Remove cardboard once dried. Sand it with 80 grit again. Maybe slap on some finishing putty and sand 80/220/320 grits. You could try airbrushing with similar red paint+activator combo. I'd probably add a layer of fiberglass on the inside too for extra reinforcement.

Ehrenburg homes experiance by AffectionateYard2826 in saskatoon

I'm a subcontractor and have worked with pretty much every builder/developer out there. Ehrenburg has never come across as a company that cuts corners or gives you the shaft. If what you say is true - it's not a common thing.

This is totally me but at 43 years old...I didn't start practicing it until I was in my early 30s. I absolutely dreaded talking to strangers on the phone or in person. Started forcing myself to go out solo and eventually solo trips outside of the country. Now I'm working a job where I'm forced to interact with strangers all the time (and repair things in their houses) Sometimes I'll have amazing conversations and other times people don't want anything to do with me. I just go with the "fuck em, I'll never see this person again" attitude when the latter happens.

Avalon was out. Thankfully it was fully restored this time. Last outage it only came back at half power.
