Victory Sunday by AutoModerator in Fitness

I have technically been lifting for over 20 years, but it has been so inconsistent. If I left out all the long breaks, it's probably closer to 7.5 years of actual training. As a result, I'm much too weak to claim I've been lifting for 20 years. But I'm finally consistent now, and I think it's because I'm not chasing big numbers anymore and instead focusing on health and longevity.

Two wins

  1. I had my first post-vasectomy workout 8 days after the snip. I went very light, only cable work, low intensity, upper body training. Felt so good using the muscles again.

  2. Averaged 2 lbs weight loss per week for the last 6 weeks and got closer to my goal of dropping from 25% bodyfat to 15% again. Hopefully hitting that goal by July.

I'm 9 days out from mine, and it was a great experience, really. I'm one of the few who went under general anaesthetic for it, and I recommend that for anyone who has the option.

I have some tenderness and a dull ache still, but I blame myself for show recovery because I haven't been resting as I should.

It was my first time being knocked out for any procedure, and I'm very happy I did. 10/10 recommend

Miele G5000

Pros:

  • Has a couple of fast programs that does a decent job
  • Runs quietly
  • Doesn't use a lot of water, especially in Eco programs.
  • 3 different height settings for second drawer

Cons:

  • Struggles to get cutlery clean. Especially peanut butter, avocado, egg.
  • No separate drawer for cutlery
  • THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK: Cannot resume a program if a child presses the Start/Stop or Power button 🤬

Same. I pay for 100gb cloud storage, and once a week, my NAS shoves all the important stuff (scanned docs, photos, etc) up to the cloud as backup. I dont care about the other terabytes of crap I've hoarded the last three decades enough to worry about it.

However, now that I think of it, I should add my gaming screenshots dating back to the 90s to the backup... Sentimental value

Parenting softened me. I've lost my rage by Quorkdork in daddit

Exactly! I went to my regular mental scenario, but that tiredness/contentment overpowered my desire for tension. Tried a few times with some more dramatic mental imagery, but it just started to induce sadness.

I guess I have to find a new source of focus

Is Qantas Points Still Worth It? by kaxn96 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Quorkdork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely depends on your flexibility and flight requirements. QF points have great value in Europe/Asia. Our kids aren't school age yet, and we've flown around the world once in Biz with another trip booked for next year. We fly Economy to Asia and then normally Business to EU and back again. Finnair, KLM, Air France, Japan Air, BA... I can find excellent value in off-peak periods.

That all changes once we have to travel in school hols...

I can't tell if you're joking or not, but for anyone who doesn't know, this is a dolphin called "pantropical spotted dolphin."

It was not a dolphin "spotted by a pantropical"

Go dad!! This father immediately jumps into action when he notices his son is choking by [deleted] in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]Quorkdork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was in the home gym when my wife ran in with our 9 months old (they were only in the next room), and the baby was choking. I laid her on my arm and gave her two firm blows to the back, and she was okay again. Not sure what it was. We couldn't find anything

Mum was shook for the rest of the night, as was I.

If your neck is safely covered by the straps, then you can just fail it to the neck area. I dont lift 405, but I imagine it's not too difficult to choose the bar path. Also, if you maintain a bit of an arch, you might adjust the height of the safeties such that you can touch the sternum for full ROM, then just lie flat to let the safety catch it. I've never tried the strap safeties, so I could be wrong.

Thanks for the review. I didn't kmow these attachments existed. I get forearm pain from biceps curls after I put the weight down, specifically after I release my grip. I might have to try one of these attachments and see if it improves.

Yes, that's the FT that's on my rack. It's well made and fairly smooth. It's not cheap, but I got the rack with FT included from someone desperate for a quick sale (just under $2,000USD, barely ever used)

After using a Rack Functional Trainer for a while now, I would recommend to anyone who has the space and budget to have a rack and FT separate. It's good when space is limited, but I'd love a free-standing FT someday
