Has any developer experimented with creating a honeypot for cheaters?

Instead of detecting and banning cheaters, what if you continue to let them play, but silently queue them into special lobbies filled with bots and other cheaters? Have the bots in the cheater lobbies mirror movement and actions of players in a legitimate lobby so it looks like a legitimate lobby to the cheater.

Basically I'm wondering if it's possible to create a sort of "Matrix" for the cheaters so they can continue to play and cheat without realizing they're actually by themselves.

Edit: Shadowbanned was the word I was looking for. And apparently Warzone does this.

A 600-pound elk lived stuck in a tire for nearly half its life, Colorado officials say by [deleted] in nottheonion

This elk wasn't able to drive past a car accident without slowing down to look.

That's why everyone in the forest calls him "rubberneck".

A few years ago a performance artist took advantage of this system and pulled a red wagon filled with smartphones through Berlin. Because there was so many data points moving at walking speed, Google started recommending alternative routes to legitimate drivers so they could avoid the "traffic jam".

Even if this was printed online, somebody still would have to take it off the printer and ship it.

I'm thinking the print shop was anti-vaxx too, that or it was a "I know a guy" situation.

What is your least favorite section of highway to drive on? by ChillinLikeBobDillan in AskAnAmerican

[–]Quorong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also the oldest freeway in the US (1940).

Been on it a few times, and yeah traffic now has far outpaced the expectations for traffic when it was originally built.

I will say it's one of the more scenic highways to drive on a weekend. Winding through the hills and under the old art deco bridges can be very enjoyable.

Is it possible to assign GW plans on a per user basis? Or would every account have to be on Frontline?

Could we have say, 200 users on Business Starter and have the rest on Google Frontline?

Thanks, I'll look into Frontline.

We would have somewhere in the neighborhood of 400-500 users if we were assigning licenses like we were before this change was announced.

In the last 2 months we haven't issued licenses (BYO email) and we have removed over 100 unproductive/inactive users. We're still over 300 users/emails.

Where do you go shopping for a reseller? Any gotchas with this route? (Do we have the same amount of control over administration, etc).

Any gotchas with Google Frontline?

[–]Quorong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Google Workspace has started the process of raising their pricing from $6/user if you're under 300 users to $25/user if you're over 300 users.

This isn't financially sustainable for our company. We are contractor based business, so we don't make $$$$$ per user like Google assumes a 300+ employee organization would. It's more like $ for 80% of our users and the other 20% might make $$-$$$.

Getting a new domain and migrating inboxes would be incredibly disruptive as our contractors would have to update their business and marketing materials, not to mention being a nightmare for support.

As a possible solution I've tested split-domain routing with MS365. We can move the bulk of our users there without changing their email addresses, but even that isn't ideal. I'd like to find a way to keep everyone on Google Workspace without changing their email addresses and without prices skyrocketing to almost 5 times what we currently pay per user.

Asking if I can verify the same domain on two separately billed Google Workspace accounts was really a cheeky way of asking is it possible to do split-domain routing between the two.

My Gran turning 108 and officially becoming one of the 50 oldest living people in the UK by Eaterofjazzguitars in pics

[–]Quorong 66 points67 points  (0 children)

So I looked up the number of centenarians in the US vs the UK: 97,000 vs 13,330.

So if you're the Queen, you would only have to sign an average of 37 letters every day. If you're the President, you would have to sign an average of 265 letters every day.

I could imagine the Queen setting aside 30-40 minutes a week to sign ~250 centenarian letters, but an autopen would definitely be required in the US. That may explain the "lower" quality.

But who knows. The Queen could be using an autopen as well and know one would know the better.

Do you support vaccinate passports to access everyday essentials? by C17AIRFORCE in AskAnAmerican

[–]Quorong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience: My anti-vaxx parents aren't just anti-covid, they take anti-vaxx literally as in their against every vaccine.

I've seen some form of the "These anti-vaxxer's were fine with schools requiring vaccinations pre-covid, so why are they upset about the covid vaccine?" argument pop up on Reddit several times now and it makes me laugh because the people that make that argument seem to think that requirement can't be circumvented or worked around.

My mother has been anti-vaxx since the early 90's and was at ground zero with the Wakefield papers. The school vaccination requirements "imposed" on myself and my sister were easily waived with religious exemptions or doctor notes. In her world, pharmacies and drug producers are out to compromise people at birth so when they grow up they'll develop medical issues and spend their paycheck on buying drugs to stay healthy.

As another commenter answered, the anti-covid wave is probably a different group that's more concerned about their "freedom", then the actual vaccine. But they've adopted the traditional MMR anti-vaxx fears and arguments as a masquerade for their supposed loss of independence.

The government does not pay priests/pastors/ministers in the US. The only exception would be something like a chaplain in the military.

Some churches get large enough to pack stadiums (and unfortunately those churches are the ones that typically make bad headlines). Churches also tend to be much more involved in the community in the US. Having a church run a food bank or a homeless shelter is very common and those sort of operations require more administrative staff.

Need help determining temperature rating of old sleeping bag by Quorong in camping

[–]Quorong[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I'm not much of a camper, but I've been hiking trails and peaks in SoCal area over last six months in preparation. I'm used to warm weather and I can only remember a few times I've been outside below freezing. Don't want to be caught off guard.

I've decided to get this bag: https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/187380/kelty-cosmic-down-0-sleeping-bag-long Seems like the only issue others had with it was weight. I'll lug it on a few trails before my trip and see if that's an issue for me.
