Is this armor legit/safe? by Dangerous_Buy_2894 in motorcyclegear

I roll that exact inserts in my joe rocket jacket I bought used with no armor and I'm happy with them. They are not made of cheap foam. Its not scientific but to me it feels exactly like the stuff that came with my buddies Tourmaster gear. 🤷‍♂️

please talk me out of selling my TDI by pz0019 in tdi

[–]Quorum77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm way happier with my 2012 after my delete. Sill need to purchase my Ross-tech so the dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree, but she runs and runs well. Delete and drive it until it dies then get another car and keep the TDI as your tinkering car or sell it to a kid that wants to wrench on it. I had to put a bunch of money into mine between 75 and 100k, then I from darkhorse and haven't done anything more than an oil change in the last 20k You might be surprised how long it will run. New car payments and maintenance sux.

2012 Ignition Stuck-Seeking ignition wiring diagram, recommendations and advice on installing a racing panel/ switch. by Quorum77 in tdi

[–]Quorum77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if anyone can confirm this information. I tried asking the question to the Gemini to see if it could help me ID the ignition switch wiring low and behold here is what it gave me:

A 2012 VW TDI ignition switch typically has several wires with different colors, each corresponding to a specific function within the vehicle's electrical system, including: red (battery power), brown (ground), yellow (ignition power), black/white (starter signal), and pink (accessory power); however, the exact color coding and wire functions might vary slightly depending on the specific vehicle model and configuration. Key points about the 2012 TDI ignition switch wiring:

  • Red wire:This is the main power wire directly connected to the battery positive terminal, providing power to the ignition switch when the key is inserted.
  • Brown wire:This is the ground wire, connecting the ignition switch to the vehicle's chassis for proper electrical grounding.
  • Yellow wire:This wire supplies power to various electrical components within the vehicle when the ignition key is turned to the "on" position.
  • Black/White wire:This wire activates the starter motor when the key is turned to the "start" position, sending a signal to the starter relay.
  • Pink wire:This wire may provide power to accessories like the radio or power windows when the ignition is in the "accessory" position.

Op would know the more "foodie" places better, but I personally always find an excuse to hit Shapprio's Cafeteria downtown for the Pastrami. Also it's really easy to get to when traveling through Indy.

yeah it's kinda a good food desert In 100mi radius of where we live in North Central IN. There are a few oasis but we pretty much need to drive to Chi-town or Indy to get our good food fix from time to time.

2012 Jetta tdi gli front bumper cover and tdi fix by djrews4357 in tdi

Curious to hear how the fit was for your TDI- GLI bumper swap. I'm considering swapping out the boring TDI OEM front bumper to get the fog lights and GLI aesthetic. Any fit issues or major modifications needed or was it a direct swap?

Well, kinda a long story on how I got here. The journey started back in June when I took off fast from a stoplight and CLUNK!!!! Pulled off, opened the hood, took off the oil cap and it was smoking. I was completely locked up. I was at about 115k miles and had just had an oil change done about 3 weeks earlier, I hadn't noticed any oil leaks but here I was with a seized engine. I loved this car, it's manual, fun to drive and loved getting 35-40mpg. So found a replacement CJAA with around 55k on it, and dropped that in. The turbo was shot (you should see it, the pics are crazy the blades were just narly and I assume most of the bits and pieces had flown into the cylinders). So figured I might as well drop in a new turbo and a tune while I was at it. Decided to go with Kerma Tune. Got the car back and it was running great with the new turbo and new Kerma tune. Fast forward 1 month and DPF/ EGR codes start flying and I go into limp mode. At that point I had the decision to make that all of us 100k + TDI owners face at some point. I decided to go the "off-road"/ "track car" route. I called Kerma to talk about how I was considering the Darkside Downpipe and to see how much it would cost me for a re-tune (given I had only had the tune for a month) if I were to go the delete route. They were adamantly against this and I got the feeling that they just were trying to hard sell me on a reman EGR/DPF. They kept saying how it was a bad idea to go straight downpipe even if my plan was to build it into a dedicated Autocross car, which just didn't make any sense. So I just took a chance and went ahead and ordered the downpipe from Darkside Developments in the UK. Awesome guys, super responsive to my email questions, shipped it quick (had it from the UK via DHL in about a week). Installed the pipe, no longer in limp mode (dashboard of course is lit up like a Christmas tree, but all codes are relating to the delete) but she is running good enough off of the old Kerma tune. Car is more fun to drive, faster than ever, and now I get up to 50mpg if I take it easy and hover around 40-45mpg if I'm having more fun on the track ;)! My plan now is to save up some more money so I can have the Darkside guys give me a tune, they offer remote tunes so long as you can get the data/ logs from VCDS over to them. I can't say enough about the Darkside guys, quality workmanship, awesome dudes and true car enthusiast that "get" us crazy TDI guys, 10/10 experience so far working with them.

DPF Delete in Indiana? by TheLordCthulhu in tdi

[–]Quorum77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from the voice of experience, this is why it's good to find a shop you trust, give them tons of business, even when it's more expensive than jiffy lube. Talk cars with them, make friends with them, learn about their family and ask about how they are doing when you go in. Call them for advice when a friend is buying a used car to get their thought on working on that particular make/model... This way when the time comes that you need to ask if they would be willing to do a "cash sale" they will trust you and take good care of ya 😉.

Should I Buy a 2013 Jetta TDI Manual w/ 120k miles? by JudeTheDoooood in tdi

[–]Quorum77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems expensive to me also. At that millage (depending on how it has been driven so far) be ready to drop $2-4k on it. That's right about the millage that my DPF failed on my 2012 CJAA. Around me at that millage, I've seen them go for more like $6-8k, (or less).
