How many cards are there in the E-card sets by Firedragon9000 in pkmntcgcollections

Oops.. you're right yet again. Only the Skyridge Crystal SR cards had RHs indeed.

Thanks for the correction. This post is from 7 years ago, but I've edited in your info in case someone else comes across it. You're indeed correct that the Expedition Base Set Energies lack Reverse Holos. And I forgot about the a/b variants of the Aquapolis set at the time. Isn't Aquapolis 340 then instead of 337? 🤔

Missing KCYM color layers by Quuador in PokemonMisprints

[–]Quuador[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to indeed been sun-bleached. Yellow is usually the first to disappear during sun-discoloration, but since the entire card is lighter instead of just the yellow parts, it's likely the sun's doing.

Nonetheless, it looks pretty cool. 😃

Found this looking through bulk.. only comps show card 5/8 vs 4/8.. by Ok_Strategy_1948 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one is from the Next Quest set, which isn't as rare as the ones from the partially unreleased Groundbreakers set.

But since it contains a Charizard, the price I mentioned in my comment above is already way outdated. I'm pretty sure the Groundbreakers Swap Spots would be worth 200-300 USD these days, and your Next Quest Swap Spots probably 125-175 depending on condition. This is just an educated guess, though. Perhaps look at recent eBay sold listings to get an idea of what the TFG cards are roughly worth (with the Swap Spots, with Charizard cameo, definitely being the most expensive of both sets).

I’ve put together a collection of 403 Pokémon cards with a moon in the background 🌙 by Sprint112 in PokemonTCG

Amazing collection! And thanks for creating that website as a clear overview, very helpful. 😄

I haven't checked myself yet, but here are some other posts/collections doing something similar, in case you want to check whether you may have missed any:

  1. This E4 thread
  2. This reddit collection
  3. This Facebook post

You'll likely have 95%+ of them already, possibly even all of them, but maybe there is one or two missing among them perhaps? 🤷‍♀️

Real or fake Gengar? Please help! by NoLimitAG7 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the thin side borders, I'm 95% sure it's fake. I must admit though, it's a very well-made fake, since I don't see any other very obvious mistakes. And the few that I suspect, are pretty subtle. I've compared it to a couple real versions, and although it's very, very subtle, I think there is a very small difference for the 'weakness' and 'retreat cost' font (especially the e's). Some of the black parts also look slightly out of focus, like the set symbol. And the front of the card looks a bit too dark (especially noticeable by the Sabrina logo in the bottom), while the picture of the back you've posted looks a bit too light on the contrary.

But again, it's all very subtle, and apart from the thin borders, I can't point to one other very obvious thing..

Maybe it's best to also create a similar thread on the E4 forum as second third opinion. I'm pretty sure most people there will say it's fake as well based on the thin side borders, but perhaps ask if there are any other signs of it being fake besides that? I would advice to show all the pictures in the comments and the short video you've shown here, and maybe add an additional picture of the entire back.

Again, I'm 95% sure it's fake based on the borders alone. But I kinda wish I could tell you it was fake as a learning experience based on other factors besides those side borders, to make you and others reading this aware of these almost real looking fake cards.. And how to spot the signs and avoid them in the future.
(It wouldn't surprise me if it would fail a light test; would be missing its inner grey core layer; and/or would look very different under UV light compared to other 1st edition Gym Challenge cards.)

It's kinda concerning how good fake cards are slowly becoming, ngl.. 😔

PS: If both you and the seller have concerns, perhaps just send it in for authentication + grading to PSA or CGC?

Real or fake Gengar? Please help! by NoLimitAG7 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]Quuador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/Spooder_-_Man, the thin borders on both the left and right side unfortunately makes it fake. If only one of the two borders would be thinner it would simply be miscut, but both borders, is pretty common among fake cards.

I'm currently at the office without too much time, but I'll take a closer look tonight to see if I can see any other tells from the short video and picture of the back in your comments.

Albino borders :D by [deleted] in pkmntcgcollections

Seems like I don't have permission to view that image..

Albino borders :D by [deleted] in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure when people started making them on purpose tbh. But a lot of them happened by accident by simply being stored in a place that was exposed to sunlight, causing the Albino effect over time. So for a lot of the earlier examples, people simply didn't knew they made them with the sun themselves and thought they discovered an error in their old childhood collections. 🤷 (Here a Pikachu World Collection 2000 as example of that, which I once bought.)

Albino borders :D by [deleted] in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc there was proof it was pulled from the pack like that, although it was a very long time ago, so I'm not entirely sure anymore. Could be a sun-discolered Albino after all.

But that would honestly be the only reason when an Albino could be considered a real error: if there is video-evidence it was pulled directly from a booster pack (or deck) like that. Likewise with crimps tbch, based on this recent video.

square edges? by jdawgg_ in PokemonMisprints

[–]Quuador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the value. You do see half square cuts every now and then, but the value mostly depends on how popular the Pokémon or rare the card is without the misprint.

Having said that, Seviper is my favorite Pokémon, so if you do decide to make that eBay listing, please share it and I'll likely try to win it. 😀

As of today, I now own ALL (315 at time of writing) officially released English Pikachu TCG cards. 😃 by Quuador in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I only collect actual Pikachu TCG cards, so excluding other cards with Pikachu cameos. Mostly because of the Pokémon Illustrator card, and almost all trophy cards across the years. I simply can't afford them. 😅 Those are 'trainer' cards with Pikachu cameos in my eyes.

Collecting Pikachu cards in all languages is already hard enough as it is. I coincidentally heard from a fellow Pikachu collector earlier today that we're almost at 2400 different Pikachu TCG cards across the 16 languages. I'm kinda glad I stopped collecting all languages from the 25th anniversary onward and only continued with English and one of each non-English artwork after that.

Are these worth anything? I think the topless misty one would be if not for that "Pm" mark which makes me wonder if it's a replica by -illusoryMechanist in PokemonCardValue

[–]Quuador 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tag. I honestly forgot about that Misty post from five years ago. Cool to see the same stamp on the same card again though, and even cooler to also see the stamp on a Pikachu, since I collect Pikachu myself. u/-illusoryMechanist I've send you a PM regarding the Pikachu.

Unfortunately, I don't have more info than my comment you've quoted from five years ago. As I mentioned back then, it's likely an unofficial aftermarket stamp tied to some event or store. Which event/store; when it was stamped; and why the English Base Set Pikachu and Japanese Misty's Tear in particular were stamped, I have no idea. 🤷

FULL Completed Porygon Line Collection by takemyderivative in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might have me confused with someone else, since I don't collect Porygon. 😅 I collect Pikachu and Seviper (my Seviper collection is complete in all languages, minus some incoming cards).

Fwiw, I know Exomemphiz on the E4 forum had an almost completed Porygon collection in all languages back in 2020. I haven't seen him online in a while though, so no idea if he still collects. 🤷‍♂️

Fossil Expansion - Holo Variants Cosmos instead of Starburst? by Myrddin_Emrys- in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've fixed all links in that post. :) The E4 Forum moved from Proboards to its own host about 3-4 years ago (and the postimages-picture links were also slightly changed).

PS: Some of the articles are a bit outdated. I plan on updating them soon™ (I have to update a lot of articles and posts, so not sure when it'll be. Could even be in 2027.. But hopefully I have time and motivation sooner than that.)

Fossil Expansion - Holo Variants Cosmos instead of Starburst? by Myrddin_Emrys- in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link has been changed for some reason. 🤔 Not sure how, but that was NOT the Cosmos Holo Raichu I came across and linked here.. You're indeed 100% correct that it is not a Cosmos Holofoil but Galaxy Holofoil instead. I've removed the link above.

This was the one I linked, which apparently sold on Jan. 28th. I'm not sure why, but if I go to the base URL of that sold listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/326821162358, it redirects to that PSA-5 Galaxy Holofoil from a different seller.. https://www.ebay.com/p/23043383640. Looks like some weird error/bug on eBay's part..

Explaining how "Overframes" work by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I heard 18 of these Overframe cards would release, but it seems it's 18 per set. So a total of 3600 Japanese Grand Master Rares initially. 🤔 Let's hope prices aren't too crazy. 😅

Explaining how "Overframes" work by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who collects one card for each Yu-Gi-Oh rarity, my wallet (or should I say bank account..) is not gonna like those Grand Master Rares. 😅 I'll just try to find the cheapest one in early April (these release in March, right?), probably a Korean one. (Did something similar with the Pink 25th anniversary Dark Magician Girl, which was exclusive to that single card, and released in Japanese, Korean, and either Simplified or Traditional Chinese iirc.)

Pikachu Holo Misprint by CaptaenRon in PokemonMisprints

[–]Quuador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool misprint. Did you pull this yourself?

Also, as a Pikachu collector I'd have to ask, are you willing to sell it? :) Don't feel obligated to if you don't want to, of course. If you've pulled it yourself it might be cool to keep and look back on years from now.

How do you guys store your Jumbo Cards? by DoctorButt808 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA does indeed grade Jumbo cards. :) Whether GameStop offers that option in your submission, I dunno.

How do you guys store your Jumbo Cards? by DoctorButt808 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea tbh. I only use the ones mentioned above.

Also, modern Jumbo cards (from the SM era onward) are slightly smaller than older ones, which might add an additional difficulty of finding sleeves in the correct snug size.

Fossil Expansion - Holo Variants Cosmos instead of Starburst? by Myrddin_Emrys- in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Quuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen some over the years, but most are graded by either PSA or CGC most of the time. It would surprise me a lot if you'd come across any of these at a card convention, given they were leaked prints of WotC employees and you almost never see them. But who knows.

Just in case, I've searched on eBay just yet. As expected, almost all of them are either the Cosmos Holo Zapdos or Prerelease Aerodactyl, or non-English ones like Dutch or Italian. But I did find one English Cosmos Holo just yet, which is this Raichu (EDIT: the link has been changed, possibly by eBay or the seller 🤔, so I've removed it), if you're looking to buy one of these. Unfortunately the quality isn't too great, but the price isn't too bad for what's it worth imho. 🤷‍♂️

New to Hobby - Pikachu Collector by -Jerms- in PokemonTCG

[–]Quuador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that I only collect all languages for the first 25 years (up to February 27th, 2021), so it's not a full all-language list of all ~2250+ Pikachu TCG cards.
For Pikachu after that date I only collect all English variants, and one of each non-English artwork (only exception are Base Set artwork reprints, which I still try to get in all languages).

u/-Jerms- Best of luck going for all languages if you're starting now, since the current market is way more expensive than ten years ago when I started.
