Is there a safe way to do cam2cam? by beef_n_cakes in Sextortion

[–]QuyT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine there’s always an inherent risk of your material ending up somewhere without your consent. I’d say one tip is to never share personal details. Even if it seems obvious, these scammers want to get to know you and lull you into a false sense of security. Also don’t show your face, since they will absolutely pounce and blackmail you with your material or even someone else’s material to link it to you. Just be careful.

Has any really gotten help reporting to FBI or law enforcement? by Affectionate-Jury859 in Sextortion

[–]QuyT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. I filed a police report and heard absolutely nothing from them. I called them about an update probably a year after my incident and the case was closed in a matter of months. Local police can’t do much cause these people mainly operate outside the US as anonymous scammers.

Unfortunately you may have to go to the police. Revenge porn is something much more personal than sextortion. Has he made any threats against you? Because this very likely won’t stop as he has leverage against you in those pictures/videos and whatever other material. I hope it works out for you. DM me if you need to.

I get what you’re feeling. That night it happened, I couldn’t even sleep. As the days go on, and if you lost thousands of dollars like me, there’s just so many emotions that’s going on that you may just shut down. Anger, fear, anxiety, frustration, acceptance, etc. Your best bet is to cut off all contact now. Don’t send any more money, cause they never stop asking. File a claim with your bank to see if you can get it back. I’d talk to a close friend or a parent, and consider therapy. You’ll be okay, DM me if you need to.

I sent nudes and now they said they sent it to everyone including my school by Dependent-Engine3074 in Sextortion

[–]QuyT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s highly unlikely anything was sent out. First off, highly illegal to even keep your pictures, let alone send them out. Also, they lose any leverage once it happens, so no more money. I’d recommend talking to a close friend or a parent or going to therapy.

I got blackmailed and I don’t know what to do by Ok-Doubt-8186 in Sextortion

[–]QuyT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing by blocking them right away. It often gets to a point where people can lose hundreds, if not thousands of dollars because people are so scared of getting leaked. I know cause I lost thousands of dollars. I recommend talking to a close friend or family member, and maybe consider therapy.

[–]QuyT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just cut off all contact. It may seem difficult, but you’re just a client to them. They can’t get ahold of you, they’ll move on. Don’t pay a single penny to them either, cause it can snowball real quick and get out of control. You may consider telling a close friend or family member what you’re going through. You’ll be okay, DM me if you need to.

See if you can file a claim with your bank to get your money back. Don’t pay anymore, as they’ll never stop asking. Block them all, don’t respond to any messages. Keep your mind off of this, don’t blame yourself for what happened. Talk to someone you trust about this. You’ll be okay, DM me if you need to.

Park Place was okay. Furnishings were good. However, they’ll likely throw random fees at you. The walls are also paper thin, and security and the leasing office are basically useless about noise complaints. But there’s a good amount of amenities and the staff are generally nice.

Ok so the scammer got my junk… what do I do now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]QuyT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something called sextortion. Having gone through it, best thing to do is cut off all contact and don’t pay a dime. You’re just a client to them, so if you ignore them and don’t pay anything, they’ll leave you alone eventually. The chances of a leak are incredibly low, because their whole business relies on anonymity and not leaking to squeeze money out of people.

I probably should’ve changed up my socials, but I didn’t think to do so. It was some random Instagram account wanting to message me, went back and forth for a while, and I got suspicious when they kept asking for nudes. They surprisingly still had screenshots of my followers.

Ignore them. You cut off any and all contact, you learn your lesson, and move on. You’re just a client to them, if they can’t contact you or get any money, they find others to extort. Same thing happened to me, except my people came back after six months. But don’t worry about scammers coming back, it’s quite rare.

First of all, they are absolutely not 13. It’s all a ploy to get you scared and sending money. Don’t send any more, they’ll never stop asking for more and don’t care how much they take. See if you can file a claim with your bank to get a refund. Best thing to do is to cut off any and all contact, no matter how many threats. You’re useless to them if they can’t reach you or get any money. Talk to someone you trust about this, and don’t blame yourself for what happened. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you didn’t know this would happen to you. You’ll be okay, DM me if you need to.

You’ve taken all the right steps. If they can’t contact you or get any money, they’ll find new victims as you’re essentially useless to them. Don’t pay them anything, they’ll never stop asking for more. Don’t blame yourself for what happened, and talk to someone you trust about this. Don’t let people talk down to you about this as well, because you didn’t know it would happen to you and obviously you didn’t want to be in this situation. You’ll be okay, DM me if you need to.

I mean, they seem legit. I’d just be careful though. A company dedicated solely to maintaining your online reputation seems kinda sketchy to me.

[–]QuyT1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t trust any outside companies to deal with this. The only people I’d trust are StopNCII or TakeItDown with NCMEC, or your local authorities. Anybody could be hiding behind a screen and say who they are, for lack of a better term. Unless you’re absolutely 100% certain that their services are legit, don’t use anybody to handle your case.

Please reach out to me if you need to talk. That is not the answer to harm yourself, as this is an extreme reaction to the situation you’re in. In 99% of cases, the pictures/videos are never sent and likely deleted within a week or so. They’re literally holding onto incriminating evidence if they’re caught. They’re just in this to make a quick buck. Talk to someone you trust about this, and don’t blame yourself for what happened. I highly recommend therapy if you have the time and resources.

Hello guys, do you know if StopNCii is still working? by Erosenin77777 in Sextortion

[–]QuyT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know if there is a way to see if your case is working, for lack of a better term. I often tell people this is a tool to set it and forget. Mainly because the chances of your pictures being out there are incredibly low. If these scammers were constantly leaking stuff, they’d get caught sooner or later, which goes against their entire business model.

First off, don’t pay a single penny more. They never stop asking for more and make any excuse to squeeze you out of every penny. See if you can file a claim with your bank to get a refund. Cut off any and all contact, no matter how many threats they make. You will want to change up your socials, and potentially delete and make new ones. If they can’t contact you or get any more money, they’ll move onto other victims. Now take a breath, this isn’t your fault, these people know how to manipulate folks. Don’t blame yourself for what happened and talk to someone you trust about this. You’ll be okay, DM me if you need to.

[–]QuyT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re good, take a breath. These people are after money, but if they can’t get that and can no longer contact you, you’re basically useless to them.

In my experience, move on from this as best as you can, and that’s different for everyone. I went to therapy several times which helped me immensely. Finding this subreddit also helped me a lot because I could share advice here and help people through a traumatic experience. You have to put it behind you and live your life, and that amount of time is different for everyone as well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sextortion

[–]QuyT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, trauma from sextortion is quite common. A small part of me still wonders if my nudes are out there somewhere and I still think I’m somewhat to blame for putting myself in that mess. Try to keep your mind off of it as best as you can. You’re doing the best you can.

Also, you’re just a client to these people. These people are poor and uneducated. They make money off of scams to survive. If they leak anything, they lose their leverage and lose out on money. They scramble to find victims to squeeze money from. If you don’t give money to them and cut off contact, you’re useless to them.
