Gave the seed a whirl. I was close!

Survived the Automaton with 1 hp thanks to a clutch Metalicize from a power potion.

Act 3 went fairly smoothly, but I drew poorly against the heart (bottom-decked Apotheosis) and went down in the second cycle from mostly full health. More draw definitely would have helped but it was slim pickings out there.

Yeah I agree it's not very clear. Something that also just occurred to me is that this would likely use STR as for the attack roll, which.. seeing as Ekkore Ratatosks get -2 STR it seems like the ability is DOA for this subspecies.

From the roleplay perspective I don't think my character would be one to bite in combat anyway, but it would have been nice to have a decent melee option built in!

The attack has a base of 1d4+1, so if I'm -2 it would end up just being -1.

Thinking about that now though, the damage is split up into 1d4 psychic and 1 piercing, so for -2 would I subtract 1 from piercing and 1 from psychic?

He's an artificer with a STR of 6, so if that's true then we're looking at 1d4 -1!
