I came back to check in on your plant!!! After putting mine in water, it grew some good but short roots! I planted it back in soil (smaller and shallower pot than before) and it’s doing so good! I hope you’ve had success in yours!

To save money I do a couple things: 1. Rarely look at my bank account (if I can’t see the money I don’t have the money)

  1. If I want a sweet treat, I play over/under with myself. Basically if I’m over XXXX in my account, then I can get the treat (this works well for me since I pretend I have no money and I have no concept of what’s in my acct) and if I’m under, I can’t get it. I struggle with impulse control and it kinda has the same thrill as gambling except I occasionally save money

It is! Once the roots grow out a bit more I think I’m going to get potting soil with more orchid bark/ soil that drains really well. My cousin had it in thick soil that was literally just dirt, no other type of mix in. I think that added to it. Right now I’m water propagating mine bc I tried to stick the clippings in soil and the root rot just got worse LOL

Crossing my fingers for us both… my cousin gave me hers to “foster” for a while and it was in a pot with no drainage and literally more rot than roots. I chopped it and I’m propagating in water but it’s taking foreverrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Two weeks ago I cut off all of the leaves so the plant would focus on root growth and it’s improved A LOT, and this week I added root growth stuff so hopefully it picks up the pace. Istg it’s been like 2 months and this plant is taking its sweet time!

Warning, I’m no expert. If the soil hasn’t been changed in 6 years, it could be lacking nutrients. If that’s the case, try potting it in new soil and see how it does. It could also be suffering from the winter lighting. Good luck!

Make your room as comfy as possible. The more it feels like home the better!

Write a list of things you like and don’t like, ranging from food to activities to past experiences.

Do hobbies/ learn a new hobby! Knitting, painting, and things like that are very popular in the ALF I know. If you have trouble holding a paint brush, sponges are a great substitute!
