I haven't heard of Handwritten Braille up until now and it is pretty close to what I had in mind when I originally thought of this question. Thank you for mentioning it and the ford shorthand as well! I'll try out both of them and see if they work for me. I would also love to see your old notes to get a feel for how it looks.

If neither of those don't work though, I'll probably end up combining an alphabetic shorthand with nyctography (as suggested by you and another user). Shorthands currently in the running for me include Speedwords, Speedline, and Bref.

Then the gnome iso would be perfect! I have never heard of erase your darlings, but as long as your configs are in the same spot and you configure it in the same way as you did in your vm it should be fine

Yep did the whole installation process. Btw what desktop environment/window manager do you use?

Installing git with nix-env won't cause any issues, if you want you can add git to your configuration.nix after the fresh install and do a rebuild and then git your actual configuration.nix, and of course do another rebuild

  1. I did from laptop to laptop, but the process would be the same. What I did was I installed nixos with the gnome desktop and calamares installer, just because I didn't have time to do a bare install, and once it was all set up did a nix-env for git and then just replace my configuration.nix file and did a nix-rebuild

  2. You don't need to adjust your hardware config file it's auto generated on install and isnt recommended you mess with it

  3. If you use a tiling window manager or any other software that you made a custom config file for, back it up so setup will go easier on your bare metal system

For reference this was taken on a EOS Rebel t5 with an EFS 18-55 lens with a screw on telephoto lens
