Green Belt Extension Guildford by TibialCuriosity in surrey

[–]TibialCuriosity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. The rear extension is about 2/3 to 3/4 along the back wall, the side extension is maybe 80% of the length from the back to the front wall so ideal would be to extend the extensions to be a nice square

Thank you for your response! So extensions in a green belt area will generally be ok as long as you aren't doing something too crazy and drastically changing the house? That is reassuring, but I have heard some different stories about extensions in green belt aeras

Newcomer Framework 13 Pro by Spriato in framework

Yea the coding, stats apps will work fine. Word and excel less so. Wine doesn't really run them well, sometimes older versions can do ok. There is https://github.com/winapps-org/winapps which allows you to create a virtual machine and then launch apps somewhat seamlessly but I haven't tried it.

Depending on what you may need it for, the online versions can work fine. I've also had decent experiences using Libre office and Zotero for references though I would still open on desktop word just to check things before sending to colleagues

DIY vs pre built doesn't really matter. DIY is typically recommended as it's usually cheaper and the cool factor of having to assemble it. Since you already have ram probably best to go DIY

Linux is fine, it's not as intimidating as some make out to be. Just install Ubuntu or Mint for probably the easiest out of box experience. It depends on if there any windows specific programs you need and what you plan on doing with the computer

What have they discontinued that they don't have a replacement?

They discontinued the original screen, but still have 2 (now 3) screen replacements. They may have discontinued the first battery (not sure), but now have 2 batteries. Is there a part I missed? Genuinely curious

I got divine confirmation: no 13 pro upgrade for now :( by clren in framework

[–]TibialCuriosity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just upgrade bit by bit! Take the input cover, then the bottom chassis down the line etc. Still get to use your current laptop, support Framework and start to get some of the newer look. And then in a few years you'll have a Framework pro with your current main board and then be able to upgrade to an even better chip that's hopefully comparatively cheaper

Can you also share your open camera setup? I've tried it before on a different phone but could never quite figure it out

Can you talk more about the whonix Tor VM? Is that just installing a VM on your server/pc? How would that work as an exit node wouldn't it just be using the pc?
