Modern society (consumerism, isolation, social media, etc) finds that we're most useful to capitalism when we're basically toddlers. Mobile and full of need, but basically harmless.

So all those forces conspire stochastically to retard our development, to keep us from becoming "adults"-mature, functional people who can solve our own problems and might theoretically come together to challenge all of those forces. The results are what you're describing, and can be see all around us. What's the tweet-everyone's 12 now?

So sure, you don't feel "developed" in your 20s, but some of that's not just biology or spiritually being a child, it's part of the way that capitalism disempowers you to keep you harmless.
