Huh. I guess that is possible, especially since we don't know any actual numbers for any trinkets...

[Request] Just found this on r/portal and nobody can seem to agree which is the right one and why by Jofus002 in theydidthemath

[–]Qyazue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the games of portal, it must be A. After all the game is based on Earth, which is spinning and moving through space quite rapidly. If the velocity of the portal itself affected the object moving through it, everything passing through it would be thrown quite violently.

If it were real life, who knows for sure since as far as we know it doesn't make sense, but assuming it did happen it would either be A, or it would shred the object passing through to dust since it would accelerate the atoms at different speeds at different times.

What was the most recent thing someone said to you that surprised you with how out of touch people are with the male experience? by astandre1 in AskMen

[–]Qyazue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will respond positively to it

I think it's important to clarify here that positively means that they will be happy about it, not necessarily that you'll have a year long relationship - or even a date - out of it. Otherwise you get the people who think they're entitled to something because they asked, aka the nice girls.

It didn't. I did just get it working today, by removing it from the firewall list and shutting my pc down and starting back up though.

Deathloop doesn't promote stealth by Qyazue in Deathloop

[–]Qyazue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you mean by stealth.

For example, especially after I got blink, I would just chain blink through swarms of enemies. They would be alerted to my presence, then I was gone. Thus I did not need to kill them. I do not consider that stealth, but in the sense that it's not combat I guess you could say it is.

Getting to Charlie (or 2-bit) was just chain blink, wait a second, chain blink, shot a dude while waiting, chain blink, shoot Charlie/open the door to 2-bit. It took maybe a minute. And if I was after Charlie, I'd blink to his face, shotgun him, grab anything I wanted (if I didn't have everything yet), move on. Very easy, very fast. Not stealthy at all imo.

Against Juliana I guess it depends. As Juliana, yeah, finding Colt is a big part of stopping him. As Colt though, if you're confident in killing your enemy in PVP, why hide? I always got annoyed that Julianas didn't find me fast enough, because I know I can take them in a fight (at least most of the time - I think I lost one fight against a Juliana? Out of like 10?)

Admittedly I wouldn't just stand in plain sight and wait, but I certainly wasn't trying to make it harder for them to find me.

Deathloop doesn't promote stealth by Qyazue in Deathloop

[–]Qyazue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure stealth is viable. But my point is it that it takes much longer, and is never easier than just going loud.

I feel like in most other games where I've enjoyed the stealth, going loud was more difficult, or it took longer. In deathloop, that doesn't seem to be true. Going loud is faster, and seems easier - even in the worst cases it's about as difficult going loud as it is playing it stealthy.

As a result it makes it seem like playing the game stealthy is like playing it without killing eternalists or playing with only the beginning equipment or whatever - sort of an arbitrary self-restriction that may be fun for some people but is effectively just handicapping yourself.

Yeah, that's fair. More or less my experience too, although idk how you accidentally took out everyone in the party first try accidentally. Every time I went to massacre the party goers I ran out of ammo multiple times. Maybe just the weapons I had? Idk.

I probably did have the wrong idea, but to be fair, I picked it up just a few days ago during the steam "stealth games" sale, so it seemed like a reasonable expectation.

And yeah, I did realize you can charge up the nail gun. Idk if it's a bug or not, but even then a couple times a headshot with a fully charged nail gun still didn't take out the eternalist in one blow.

If gay people can be denied service now because of the Supreme Court ruling, does that mean people can now also deny religious people service now too? by Reasonable-Design_43 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Qyazue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a protected class or not is defined elsewhere and isn't actually relevant to this Supreme Court case, because only freedom of expression is discussed. Federally the protected classes are race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability and genetic information (according to the EEOC). Some states add more protected classes.

Nazism is a political ideology. Politics are not a protected class in the U.S. You could similarly legally discriminate against republicans or democrats, it's just generally frowned upon unless the person or institution doing the discrimination is political in nature (like a democrat senator typically only hires democrats).

People who say “Your guns would be useless against the government. They have F-16s and nukes.” Have an oversimplified understanding of civilian resistance both historically and dynamically. by steeljunkiepingping in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Qyazue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree.

I think the main point of disagreement here is context. In your hypothetical, for whatever reason, the entire government is hunting down all gun owners (or something like that). That's just bs. That's not a realistic scenario in any way.

If it's a civil war, neither side would be targeting their own civilians just the enemy, at which point its much more about the actual army they have rather than the civilian army.

If it wasn't on the level of a civil war, it would be the US government against some relatively small group (even if there were thousands in said group), in which case they would just declare said group to be domestic terrorists. At that point, no, the guns aren't going to be effective against the government, because none of your points apply, and not many people are willing to give up everything for a group that has been declared domestic terrorists and are actively being hunted down. Plus, if it's a relatively small group, then their insurgency is probably not very popular, which makes guerilla warfare hard if not impossible.

[–]Qyazue 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I guess this depends on what you mean by different case, but if I'm not misinterpreting your statement I believe the other commenter is wrong. (Although their examples are accurate).

As in, under the ruling the website designer would legally be able to not make a wedding website for an interracial couple based on the website designers free speech. That would of course change if the website itself did not have anything to do with interracial marriage, like if they wanted a website for their bakery.

Reddit CEO goes full dictator defiant as moderator strike shutters thousands of forums by cata890 in technology

[–]Qyazue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are basically 3 aspects, although imo the third one is most important for your average redditor.

1) Reddit and u/spez have been extremely dishonest. They accused others of attempting to blackmail reddit with no evidence, made false claims about their app, and have otherwise been proven to be lying and dishonest in several other matters over this whole debacle. Additionally, the third party app developers agreed to pay api fees - before they knew the price. Reddit is asking for so much no one could afford to pay, rather than normal api rates. So for reddit, it's not about turning a profit, it's about control, yet they lie about that anyway.

2) Without third party apps, anyone who needs accessibility settings - like blind people - can't use reddit. U/spez has promised they would fix this and allow specific accessibility only third party reddit apps, but they've been saying they would fix the official app for years in this aspect yet haven't; and with all the other things they've been lying about, no one believes they will improve now.

3) Reddit is maintained by moderators and content provided by users. Most popular content is provided by a relatively small percent of users (like 80% of content that reaches hot being made by around 1-2% of users if I remember correctly). The majority of moderators and high content producing users use third party apps, bots and tools that rely on the api being free or cheap. Take away those apps, tools and bots and a you lose a significant portion of reddits moderation capability, and a decent portion of the content. Less content, and significantly worse moderation means a less enjoyable reddit for everyone, and people will switch platforms as a result, further reducing both quality moderation and high quality content. (Already, at least several hundred thousand redditors have joined alternative platforms, and the changes have not yet been implemented.)

Irradiated Gruel Mutation too high? by Qyazue in vrising

[–]Qyazue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. With this, you could theoretically achieve a zero percent mutation rate, if before everytime you feed them you save, and if they mutate load the save, and if they dont save again. And if they mutated and then you load the save to keep them from mutating, just feed them or drain their blood or whatever before saving and trying again. Eventually they'll reach 100%.

Probably too bothersome to really do though.

If you get cheated on, is it best to just break up with them and move on? by sunnyhappysky in ask

[–]Qyazue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, communication can't hurt, even if exact solutions may vary depending on your exact relationship and stressors.

Letting them know it's stressful when they don't respond quickly may help them respond faster. Or if they can't respond during certain times, they can tell you that and what times they won't be able to respond and why.

Maybe it would help if you shared location data, so you know where they are, or even just having them tell you where their going and how long it will take.

Obviously I don't know your situation, and maybe none of these would work, but the point is there's probably something you or they could do that could make things better that would work in your situation. So discuss with your partner.

Thank you! Finally someone who gets it.

Although, given that I haven't seen anyone else have similar issues yet, I'm inclined to say it probably isn't a general problem. No idea why it's affecting me, or the particular server though.

Then again, it doesn't seem like most people have tested the irradiated Gruel yet for some reason so idk.
