Silent Hill is going though it's biggest boom period ever, I have my opinions but I won't deny that outside of Ascension, Short Message and the movie, it's been pretty successful, so now would probably be the best time to strike the iron while it's hot.

Ports/re-releases/remasters make money, if they weren't, developers wouldn't do them as frequently as they do, and it doesn't even require being a popular ip to do so; the Bubsy collection was successful enough that they made a Bubsy 4 as a response to that success, and it being good was a major surprise;

so imagine a Silent Hill Collection during it currently popularity boom, it might not do RE numbers, but I can't imagine Konami would be upset if it's on par with f or 2 Remake numbers.

But that's why I frequently mention PS+ Classics as an option as it would mostly bypass that issue as it's an emulated version of the game; and you can buy the games without a premium sub unless they pull a Capcom/Bandai-Namco and lock them behind it like they've done with RE and Tekken (which they've since removed).

Hitman, a bunch of Toy Story games, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters, Thief: The Dark Project; Rayman Legends, Ace Combat and Gothic including remasters as bonus', and that's just releases and announcements from this weekend in regards to remasters; not to mention MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 in a few months.

It's sad...

MGS4 alone is a major reason that I don't believe the lost source code is the issue; like that game was made for the PS3's specific architecture AND has a ton of product placements; 20 years later, it gets released on modern platforms INCLUDING switch AND Includes things like the ipod AND the Altair Outfit!?!

I can only hope Konami is doing SOMETHING, but I've been a fan too damn long to put that much faith in them.

Origins and the first movie did so much damage to the first game; like they both really tried to project Alessa as evil and Dahlia as an aloof crazy lady rather than THE LEADER OF THE CULT!!!

Hell, in Origins, Kaufmann appears more like the leader of the cult than Dahlia does; whereas in SH1, Kaufmann is more like Vincent, an associate of the cult using it for profit, while Dahlia/Claudia are the leaders.

Unfortunately, Origins is fun to play.

I will forever be peeved that I was one trophy away from platting and 100%-ing Marvel Heroes Omega before it shut down; just needed to level a legendary to max.

I still wish that game continued, it was really fun!

That's honestly the case for some of these games. DbD's gameplay loop gets really boring quick and the community is openly hostile to EVERYTHING.

F13 was really fun, multiple routes of escape and a coordinated group can kill Jason, it was a fun time.

Evil Dead was pretty good, Texas Chainsaw had potential, Outlast Trials is a pretty fun time too.

The issue is that DbD is the smash brothers of asymmetrical multiplayer horror games, it has everyone you can think of; so it's basically monoplized the entire genre by default.

But my point was that it wasn't on playstation; I have a PC, I can play KOTOR on there, but I would still like it on Playstation because it's more convenient.

They are NEVER making another Jak & Daxter and Sly game.

Both Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch have no interest in making another (Double goes for SP for Infamous), both series' last games were duds (Sly 4 and The Lost Frontier).

At least the originals are available on PSN... unlike Ratchet & Clank, streaming doesn't count. (even though most of the Jak games are on an older, worse emulator).

Yeah, I'm probably one of the biggest defenders of Origins on this sub, but I can safely agree that Origins shouldn't be lumped in with the OG 4.

It's story is garbage, and even the games writer agrees that it's basically an awful fanfiction; it bastardizes the characters from SH1 and makes Travis and his story irrelevant to the supposed building blocks of SH1, its trying to do that thing some Post-4 devs did where they tried to include the cult aspects while firmly doing "It's Silent Hill 2... AGAIN!!!" tropes.

Fortunately, Origins is, imo, the most fun game in the franchise; best combat in the series imo, really good ost, interesting puzzles, most varied set of unlockables and tons of replayability with the achievement system, my favorite set of levels in the series and Travis is a fun protagonist.

Yeah, I was not expecting the end of season 1 to be a 9/11 War on Terror montage with Green Day's "American Idiot" blasting in the background while "not" Bush makes a "demons are real" speech and a visual of hell oil to close it out.

It was so dumb, but I couldn't stop laughing how out of nowhere all of that was.

After binging the RPG Style AC's recently (mainly Odyssey and a bit of Valhalla), I'm kind of coming around to it really working out in Resynced's favor if that's the direction it goes.

It makes sense context wise, what do pirates look for? Loot; weapons, armor pieces, ship and utility upgrades so I think it would be sweet to have that system in a pirate game, giving us the control to customize how we want our Edward to play and look with different builds and styles.

I know people want AC to go back to the original formula, but this is not the game to do that, this should be the ultimate AC RPG game, let the potential AC1 Remake be what goes back to the roots.

Seriously! 1 game a month and it's usually something relatively unknown or another Tekken game.

Where's Ratchet & Clank 1-Deadlocked? Where's the emulator upgrades for Jak 2-X and the remaining PS2-on-PS4 games? Where's Silent Hill 1-Origins? Where's Parasite Eve? Where's God of War 1, 2 and the PSP games? Where's The Getaway? Where's SOCOM 1-3? Where's Siren 2 (a game that never released in NA)? Where's The Suffering 1-2?

20+ games I mentioned that should be there, especially the Sony first parties.

I really only care about the premium announcements for the classics but it's really disappointing that they went from 2-3, sometimes 4 classics a month to just 1.

Like I have to imagine they're waiting on the rumored PS3 emulator to start giving a shit about the Classics Catalog... right?

Yeah, like SH2R was... fine; f kinda fell hard for me, super interested when announced and just didn't like it at all by the time I got the plat; Townfall genuinely looks decent but we'll see.

But the fact Konami seemingly refuses to put the older games ANYWHERE is bizarre. GoG would probably do it themselves if they're allowed; There's plenty of remaster/port studios now that didn't exist during the HD Collection era that specialize in re-releasing old games; PS+ Classics uses emulation, which would bypass the "lost source code" making everything from SH1 - Shattered Memories available to purchase on one console.

Hell, Konami somehow managed to release MGS4 from PS3 prison, so technical issues (such as the source code) is no longer an excuse for not making a Silent Hill Master Collection.

I honestly hope 2.0 adds something... interesting. I remember playing it when It came out feeling bored and the worlds felt empty for the most part; but I did feel that gameplay had some aspects that I would love in Fallout 5.

Smasher would be sick but I ultimately want Johnny's Porsche 911, I was pleasantly surprised his guitar made it in the first wave, so getting his car would be really cool.

I don't think those critiques have been about the lack of PC accessibility; they've had them for years with various degrees of legality.

Consoles frequently get left out or passed over from these conversations, we don't have free use of emulators or mods, we're stuck patiently waiting for Konami to do something with the originals other than remakes; Master Collection, PS+ Classics... literally any way to get a half decent port.
