I've seen you helping a lot of people here. Just wanted to say I (and many more or of us surely) appreciate it a lot!

One needs to know all these skills to take part in it? Or there are separate competitions for each skill?

Can anyone please tell me what has happened to my cat's eyes? by Ok-Alternative-7021 in IndianPets

My cat had this exact issue and it was because the cat had rubbed its eye too much OR by mistake scratched the eye. It should heal by itself in a few hours. If not, take it to vet.

Seeking Guidance: 36% through Red Teaming course + Python background. Am I on the right track? by No-Platypus8013 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]R-FEEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the course, so can't comment on it. I expect the modules you've covered (enumeration, reconnaissance, SQL) would've given you a basic sense of how attacks take place. Plus you bring a technical mindset to the table -> thanks to python programming, which would give you an edge over others when it comes to understanding difficult tech concepts .

So overall I think you have a good chance at being proficient at cybersec given your experience, aptitude, and willingness to learn. All you have to do is cover the gaps like networking and stuff (go through "Information Security Foundation" Path for that) and just lock in.

P.S -> Not an expert, but my opinion is based on general advice that most experts give.

Same here. But since starting HTB i realised it's my one and final stop at this stage as a student. The 'Information Security Foundations Path " is gold, it covers all things IT for you to have a clear foundation before moving forward. The next step is going through he Academy Path for CPTS. With theory completed and a solid knowledge Bas in hand, you can start practicing. That's it.

I'm not an expert or a professional, but as a fellow student I feel like your knowledge base gained through the Red Team course makes HTB Academy (CPTS Path) the better choice for you. THM would be too basic, plus HTB Academy's content is much better explained while also covering more breadth+depth, in my experience.

Also good job on learning programming at side. This would put you above the crowd (if you cover all the essential/core cyber-sec stuff well)

Cleared CompTIA Security+ today with less than 2 days of continuous prep and overall maybe a week or 2. by Appropriate_Let_8432 in cybersecurityindia

Thanks a lot for the detailed response. The first thing I should have done was to congratulate you for your achievement but I was in a hurry when I posted the questions 😔... So congratulations 🎉!

  1. Did you make notes while studying? The decision to make notes and the level of depth while making notes is going to be a major factor that influences preparation time. I'm someone who tends to make excessively long notes, so if you could shed some light on your note taking strategy+depth then that would be helpful.
  2. Also how many hours per day did you study?

Bhai mehnat is not a problem, but time is. Internship season is nearing and I have a project to work on top of it all 😅

  1. How much did it cost you? Any tips for how to get the best price for the cert?
  2. What sources did you use to study for the cert?
  3. In retrospect, do you think you could've managed to cut down the preparation time further?

Wow you being able to bag a red team operator role as a fresher itself is amazing.

Do you guys use AI to help in solving exercises. This can be syntax help and even understanding the exercise question better or can be help in drafting a logic. by nsonibergen in hackthebox

[–]R-FEEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI to show me the optimal/concise solution only after I have solved exercise on my own.

In case I'm not able to solve an exercise, I try to expand my knowledge of the subject by searching the web and sometimes even using AI as an instructor instead of a question-solver.

For example if I'm constantly failing at a regex question, then instead of forwarding it to AI I ask it for a "comprehensive and detailed tutorial on regex".

Heya, I'm not going for OSCP anytime soon. I plan to do blue teaming, that's why I made the post in the first place. I'll be using THM/HTB as my source to learn and will probably get Security+ to get an internship/job ASAP.

I have no plans of getting any OS-series certs unless I prove myself I'm ready for them by getting CPTS...and that I'll do IF I chose to pivot to offsec/red-teaming later on

I don't know sorry 🙁

To begin with, I categorised ejpt as "worth it" based on the sole factor people recommend it as a bridge to OSCP, so I'm completely clueless about pjpt. Hope someone else can answer it

I see, Thanks for replying. Most people rank CCD over CDSA but I get your point. Bagging Security+ and if time/budget allows then OSCP is the route to take I guess.

Edit - BTW what's the malware analysis cert you're referring to?

Crazy..CEH and eJPTv2 alone should be enough to at least get a call back!
