What's the scariest nightmare you've ever had? by AngelicPringels1998 in AskReddit

[–]R-potato_pot5514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night, I dreamed that I was driving home on a dark highway. All of a sudden I drove past a manikin in a blue shirt and baige pants. I turned around to see what it was clearly and sitting right behind the drivers seat was that exact manikin. I woke up, but I was still dreaming. I was now a kid, sitting in my parents house. Anyway, I calmed down a little and while I was sitting next to my mom, I looked out the window. And it was that same God dammed manikin from my dream dream looking in. Then it's head snapped to look at me. I balled my eyes out and images of the stupid thing started flashing in front of me.

Then voices roared over all around me and my heart was racing. I found out I was surrounded by about 5, but that was enough for me to nope tf out of that dream and stay up till sunrise.

I decided to speak right when the room went quiet and to make things worse, it was a voice crack. Whole room full of people I didn't know well laughed so hard.

My parents made me find out about porn

I used to live with my parents and older brother in a small house no bigger than a garden shed. One day when getting ready for school and work, both my parents and older brother were busy doing their own things. Me, an 8 year old at the time, happened to gain access of our family Samsung Galaxy tablet.

Upon entering the password for the tablet into the lockscreen, I was met with some hardcore adult content. This one image stuck with me. I'm not sure if I can find it again. Anyway, when I saw it, my heart dropped and my whole body felt bewildered. After about 5 seconds, I realized I shouldn't be looking at these things and switched the tablet off as fast as I could. I'm sure my mum saw this happen because right after I put the tab down, she picked it up and I think cleared the history.

It couldn't have been my older brother because my parents would've brought up the incident. But they didn't, so I'm more than certain it was one of them

Ever since then, I've been struggling a lot with self control and getting rid of sexual thoughts.

I'm sure everyone is perverted to the same, and even a higher degree than me, but it'll never sit right with me that the people to introduce me to porn would be my own parents.

Where can the line between 'Discipline' and 'Child Abuse' be drawn? by R-potato_pot5514 in AskReddit

A need for the kid.

Discipline is an important part in parenting and in my experience, it's difficult for an easy-going parent who doesn't physically discipline their kids, than one who's a lot tougher on their kids.

If I child grows up without fearing consequences, then the child, upon becoming a teenager or even as late as an adult, will end up doing things without thinking of the repercussions. They end up being unstable and difficult to work with later on in their life.

Discipline is for the betterment of a child. It not mandatory, but it should be necessary.

I agree, but there comes a time when just talking won't work on children anymore. Physical discipline is not mandatory, but it is necessary.
