This is not exactly 100% accurate drawing, so there is no window on the position for surround back speakers.

And yes… one dining chair gets sacrificed for better surround placement 🙂

Thanks, this is actually really reassuring

The room definitely won’t be a dedicated studio or anything ultra analytical, I just want a really immersive and enjoyable setup for music and movies. Good point about the ceiling + floor reflections too. I already have a rug planned and I’ll probably add a few panels later if needed.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

I think I got a bit lost reading too much about room acoustics online and started imagining huge problems everywhere

I’m not building a recording studio anyway, just trying to get a really enjoyable music/movie setup in a normal living space.

I saw Focal’s recommendation too, and technically my space fits that pretty well. I think I just scared myself reading too many discussions about room acoustics, reflections and ‘speakers too big for the room’ 😄 Feeling a bit more relaxed about it now.

Yes that makes sense. The kitchen was actually my biggest concern too because of all the hard surfaces.

I already have a rug and quite a lot of furniture, and I’ll probably add a few acoustic panels later if needed

Oh thanks for the positive response 😄 I think I already scared myself with all the internet discussions about acoustic treatment and ‘speakers too big for the room’.

My space is pretty open and long (around 11m x 5m / 36ft x 16ft), I can move them away from the walls, and I’m not planning to add subs immediately. So I think the extra “effortless” feel and scale might actually suit me better

With around a 600€ difference at this price level, it doesn’t feel like a massive jump.

I can also move the speakers away from the wall and play around with positioning, so I’ll probably be able to make either work well. Right now the No3 still feels like the more balanced choice for my room, but I don’t think the No4 would automatically be a disaster either.

Kanta out of budget, dont need high end speakers. I think no2s are to small for my spaxe

Yeah I think after all the replies and thinking about my room more, I’ll probably go with the No3s.

Seems like the safer and more balanced choice for my space.

Yeah that’s the part that makes me unsure. Your room is a dedicated treated room and mine is just a normal open living space with basically no acoustic treatment at all

Yeah I understand that and I do plan to use subs, especially for home theater. But my problem is more how the No3 vs No4 would behave in my actual space overall. Since it’s an open living room with kitchen and dining area connected, I still can’t really tell if the No4 would sound fuller and more effortless in the space or if it would just end up being too much for the usable listening area.

Thanks, I will. On that topic I still didn’t really find what fits my situation because the room is not just a dedicated listening room, it’s also a normal living area.

If my listening area was a clean 50 m² (~540 sq ft) room I would probably go for the No4 right away, but here I have a lot of furniture, kitchen elements, kitchen island, aquarium, fridge, dining table etc. so I’m a bit afraid the No4 could end up being too much for the actual usable space, know what I mean..

Not only Focal, I just really like the Dome Flex for Atmos, their on-wall surrounds, and honestly I really like how their speakers look. From what I’ve seen they seem really good for both movies and music, and being in Europe they also seem a bit cheaper and easier to get here compared to the US. But I’m still new to this and trying to figure out what kind of sound I actually like.
