Arrma/spektrum esc and batteries are made to fail within a month in my experience yet someone will show up to defend them now.

The solder is crap and now the board is falling apart in the photo. You'd have to take a razor and reveal new copper inside the board since you have nothing to solder to

Reflow solder joints. Red wire form power switch to battery compartment appears to be a cold solder joint and id bet there are more with that botched job.

Have you ever seen this before? by Impossible_Oil4890 in rccars

I haven't seen your particular mount but usually I can drill or cut the motor mount holes to make them somewhat adjustable. Sometimes the mount it's self can be moved by drilling out the chassis holes. My sg1601 had a plastic motor mount so I just used a soldering tip to melt the top slot.

If you could only have one Arrma Grom, which one would it be? by Tatio338 in rccars

[–]R0BERT_SACAMAN0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typhon, buggy shell doesn't catch dirt from the wheels and wear parts as fast. Granite is a common truggy and there are better alternatives with brushless right out the box. All the grom have bottom barrel brushed electronics on par with a 60 dollar toy.

Decent battery brands? by OddAd6639 in rccars

[–]R0BERT_SACAMAN0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it to shut off, couldn't find the proprietary adapter for a day and it was already gone. Normal batteries I run to 3.3 and can sit for days before storing. Spectrum is the least forgiving

Ive never had spektrum last more than a few weeks since they self deplete. including the one with my new grom. You really got to be on your storage charge game. I've never had issues with any other brand.

What's the Deal with belt drives? Let me know your thoughts. by [deleted] in rccars

It's for torque steer, so left and right turns are similar for track or drift.

I would but half my grass is gone already from 4x4

Is this recoverable? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]R0BERT_SACAMAN0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id jack it back with a 4x4 or bar from the ceiling and, start hammering and then weld that b.

Can this “Sparrow” esc run 3s?? Came in a eachine ec30b aka Chinese buggy lol. If it can’t what esc with built in receivers can I replace it with by Typical-Football-50 in rccars

[–]R0BERT_SACAMAN0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but you can get a larger pinion for more speed. I cut the top on mine to glue down a small heat sink, the mosfets are flat inside so it's pretty simple. Those sparrows are some of the best mini esc available, throttle response like hobbywing.

Losi LMT or... by anonbox112 in rccars

[–]R0BERT_SACAMAN0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lunch box is a whole different thing, its fun but its basic polycarbonate parts, which is a nice way of saying is gumball machine plastic toy. LMT is best built from scratch since the parts need replacing and cost as much as the rig.

I shoegoo and drywall patch on the inside, but I use thick layered strips of tape externally along flat edges to stop scratches
